Samsung is not a close-knit, integrated company--at least that's what my Korean friends tell me--so selling components like this isn't really a conflict of interests.

That said, I think it's still good business--even if it loses the battle, it can still win the war.

Samsung Group has 276,000 employees.
Samsung Electronics (part of Samsung Group) has 157,700 employees.

Organization with that many people is bound not to be so close-knit.

Samsung is making far more money with Apple than with its shittie consumer devices like the Galaxy family.

How do you figure? Samsung does 150 Billion+ a year in revenue. This 7.8 B is only about 5% of that.

He's probably right - what percentage of Samsung revenue do you think comes from Galaxy? (as opposed to components, air conditioners, ships, Korean real estate ventures, etc.)
