For anyone wondering: no, you won't be able to squeeze your finger under without lifting it.

Turning it on would be the only issue. Awkward, but wtf.

But it's perhaps odd, no? I guess it's the look of it, which is cool. Time will tell with this sort of thing. It's certainly internally discussed at length. Curious.

Modern Apple laptops turn on when you open them or plug them in for the first time (even after a shutdown), so I imagine it'll do the same here and automatically turn on when plugged in.

Again they talk about Apple Intelligence more than the mac. I have been running the various develop betas and I am completely underwhelmed with Apple Intelligence. iOS 18.1 just came out, up until now they were promoting something that wasnt even released for months and months. macOS 15.1 and iOS 18.1 barely have any Intellegence features.

Notification summaries often completely change the meaning of actual notifications, regularly telling me something opposite of what was really said.

The writing tools are cringeworthy. Chatgpt does a much better job summarizing and rewriting.

Email summaries are the same. It bothers me that people will read summaries of my email and think I said something completely different. If you ask AI to summarize this post, I would not be surprised if it said “AI is amazing, I love it. Summaries are great and writing tools are out of this world.”

18.2 AI features are gimicky, and maybe fun for some people, but over all I am completely unimpressed. I am a big fan of what LLM models are doing. Apple is coming up so short and their marketing is just making them look like fools.

I can only guess the confusion being experienced by average users being bombarded by all this marketing junk and seeing nothing/junk.

No WiFi 7 seems like a miss. Sure there isn't much adoption now, but that will likely change down the road.

I would have liked to see an SD card slot too.

Tempting, but I am not running into any limitations with my M1 Max Studio.

Does anyone else find the structure of and the transitions within these videos ridiculously pretentious?

And where are the honest to god nerds in these videos? Where are the Woz’s of Apple? I want to hear from the individual that designed all this, not their disturbingly fashionable manager.
In short, what happened to authenticity and sincerity at Apple?

Next I can see them getting rid of the power button! It will just always be on like the Terminator! 🤣

So with the power of the M4 behind it, does this make the M2 Mac Studio basically irrelevant until the next refresh? It’s hard to imagine purchasing one at $2k+ right now, no?

The prices for the ram and hard drive increases continue to be extremely painful.

They made a big deal about memory bandwitdth which has been a serious problem on Mac running diffusion models for AI images. I would love to find out this addresses some of the issues. If true I would spring for the pro and hopefully avoid needing to sell a kidney for a 4090.

I suspect they didn’t put in WiFi 7 because they want to save that for the Mac Studio next year and need another differentiator to entice people to buy the more expensive machine.
