Why didn't the Mac Mini get the M4 Max?

Also, the problem with all these videos is the constant reiterating of Apple Intelligence features, that aren't available.
Their advertising is basically saying, buy this Mac to get Personal Context etc, which they specifically highlighted.
How is this not false advertising??
By the time the devices are delivered the feature will be available, hence it's not false advertising. Also they're quite clear that it's not immediately available.

I thought the ad at the end was amazing. I went to YouTube to find the standalone version to send to my spouse. I thought it captured Apple's unique combination of technology and artistry.

The rest of the 17 minutes, which I skimmed, sounded like "blah blah blah microchip blah blah blah 17 cores blah blah percent faster" to me. Then again I've been waiting for the next MBP update and was planning to buy one regardless.

Where do you see that it's small? M4 shows a significant performance boost per core from M3. Definitely comparable if not better than in previous generations.

Also, there is a reason they compare it with M1 Max so many times in their promo video. Those are the people they are targeting. Not M3 Max users. If you're one, you are not the target audience.

I like the 1000 nit SDR brightness (compared to previous 500 nits), definitely will come in handy when working outdoors.

New AI engine is also a big welcome, IMO. About 2x performance of M3 Max.

546GB/s of memory bandwidth vs 400GB/s in M3 Max is a 36.5% increase. For the first time since M1 Max.
1.2x CPU performance increase.
Brightness increase is nice as is Memory bandwidth.
That's why I asked.
I didn't say I was disappointed, just surprised at having a similar core count as the previous generation. Like you say, nice upgrade for M1 and M2 owners who need those increases.
Not so much for M3 Max users.

Very tempting to upgrade from my M2 Pro. If only I would use the M2 Pro capabilities today…. 😇🤣

Apple is offering me 850$ Canadian for my M2 Pro 512/16GB for trade in just disgusting.

However Gorocell is offering me 1400$!!

I'm seriously thinking about getting the Base M4 Pro with 24GB. I would use the 1400 to bring the price of the M4 Pro with 24GB of RAM

For m3 max users specifically, it's not much of an upgrade. And most of the benchmarks are like a 15% speed bump at best.

They kept the core counts the same on both CPU and GPU, so the improvements are marginal/cache based and some faster RAM. Very minimal.

Last year the M3 Max was a huge upgrade because of the process shift. They added a whole new GPU architecture as well as some more cores. The CPU added 4 performance cores, and everything had an up clock. So compared to an M1 or M2 Max the speed increases were up to 50% in some cases.

Not so at all here.

The story is different with me M4 Pro which is once again a mini Max. It's a great value, especially in the new Mac Mini. It's a nice choice on the laptops too.

Notice they said little about the neural engine too (which isn't used much for the bigger Generative AI models; the GPU takes up most of the work)

Given that everything else but the camera is basically same for the M4 max models, the best bet for those coming from M1 or M2 Max is to buy a cheaper M3 Max.

The M4 Ultra will be very impressive though. And nothing integrated will beat a Nvidia 4090 never mind the upcoming 5090 for graphics. But that's neither here nor there.

I imagine the M4 Max requires a more robust cooling system than the Mac mini has to prevent throttling.

As for the Apple Intelligence features, they're all going to be released in the coming months (with some of it already out as of 15.1, and more to come in 15.2 which will be released sometime in Dec), so it isn't false advertising in the least.

Only WiFi 6e? They put a Wifi 7 chipset in their iphone, which doesn't need to throw big files around at all but stick with the old outdated standard on the "pro" laptop. Apple is so lazy with these cash grab spec bumps - I doubt it would have taken much to upgrade the logic board and now we're stuck with an old standard until 2026 until tandem OLED is released on m5 pros.
I don't know, seems like a pretty nice upgrade all around, except, I guess, for the WiFi standard. Calling this a 'cash grab spec update' is willfully obtuse. But it is MacRumors, so I guess it's to be expected. Also, if you're that concerned about file transfer speeds, get an ethernet cable!

This is the BIGGEST update in the MacBook Pro since the M3. We have entered the era of the MacBook Pro for Pros!

If it comes out on Steam odds are, you don’t need to buy again but Apple might have negotiated an exclusive for the App Store.

Did they really need to go with Ubisoft for the hero shot? AC Shadows is already a pretty universally panned game and Ubisoft is not really helping the situation with their comments.

Additionally, owners of Cyberpunk 2077 for PC on Steam will gain access to the Mac version when it launches.

For those of us old enough to remember the Ford Motor Co. using Des'ree w/You Gotta Be 25 years ago - although the man in the video stuck to lifting kids out of the crowd 😂

Why didn't the Mac Mini get the M4 Max?

Constant product differentation to maximize profits. That's why they never make a product as great as it could have been. That's ultimately why Apple in the end do not deserve our money.

You wanted Space Black for Mac Mini as well? The same Space Black that they in the video said is incredibly popular? Forget it, you don't deserve it for only $599. You'll only get it if you are a 'Pro', maybe.

and if you sum up all generations it is like 25 times faster than any AI PC chip

btw. "exiting new titles are added all the time...and still they are showing same covers as when introducing m2 :D
Like if they are close to the truth in all other topics same as with part on gaming...yeah this whole presentation is a joke

No, you're doing it wrong. You show your love for Apple by finding something … anything! … to complain about. They could give these computers away for free and people would still complain.
Like a free copy of that new album by U2.

The Apple campus always looks like such a lifeless, deserted place in these videos. I wonder what it’s really like to work there…

This is my biggest problem, Apple is basically hurting the roll out of wi-fi 7 by not doing this. All new windows devices have already been coming with it. and wifi 7 is a MASSIVE change. as a wireless engineer I am excited to see 7 since it has quite a lot to it. yes I do like all the other MBP improvements but this one is just lazy when the dam phone has it.
