Wish I was this creative and wasn't just using my Apple gadgets just for taking pictures, checking email and browsing Grindr.

You always have time to turn it around fel10.

It’s annoyingly slow. But it’s always annoyingly slow. Transferring from sd cards or flash cards or anything from any big shoot into your editing system, with multiple backups happening at the same time takes ages and ages. It’s something that is always slow. I really wish it was a super fast usb3 port, but I have spent a lot of my life waiting for this kind of thing. Grab a cuppa, take a bath, have some dinner… it’s really not an iPhone centric problem. There are always bottlenecks, and transferring to your suite is always one.
I got 230MB/s from my SD card/ usbc adapter, this is almost 5 times higher than the 39MB/s I get from the lighting in the mega top 1600USD iPhone Pro Max.
Again, airdrops get around 70-80MB/s but sending large files is almost impossible and you are limited to the internal Hd to receive the files

SO, you can shoot all teh SD cards you want while transfering super fast to your computer while still using the camera with other SD cards, but you cant with the iPhone.

so the spot was filmed with “iPhones Pro”

Would love to know how many iPhone it took

The fact that stunning films are shot on an iPhone is wonderful, that will save a ton of money for filmmakers.
Does it? You're aware that there was certainly much more equipment involved than just an iPhone. Maybe some additional lenses, rigs, microphones etc.

If you just view the iPhone as a camera body, it's not that cheap. For example here in Switzerland, an iPhone 14 Pro Max with 512 GB runs at over 1500 USD. And you'll want to have plenty of storage, as you cannot use SD cards.

Now a Sony FX30 runs at around 2300 USD. Granted, that is still more and you need lenses, but you also get another level of camera. And you can reuse the lenses if you ever upgrade the camera.

Far better to watch it on Apple's own site and video player than YouTube with its absolutely appalling blocky compression. Makes the phone footage look terrible and thus reflects badly on Apple and its products.
Where can I find it on Apple's own site? They couldn't bother to put an article about it in their Newsroom and search the website for Fursat only returns the soundtrack.

The fact that stunning films are shot on an iPhone is wonderful, that will save a ton of money for filmmakers. And the fact that you can do pro-level editing using a $600 Mac Mini and a $300 copy of FCPX is also amazing. BUT...
You still need a script, actors, some semblance of a crew, someone who knows what they're doing with sound and music. These all need to be done on a highly skilled level to have a worthwhile final product.
its not, you can achieve much better results with a 500USD A6300 and some budget lens.

Think that when iPhone internal memory gets full, you must take away it and use another whole device, plus you also needs gimballs and many other things around the cameras.

All other components as micros and lights are the same for both systems.

This is just an amazing way to show what smartphones are capable of.

Could be, but I think the idea is not that the filmmaker would buy a separate iPhone for the project, but that they would put their phone on airplane mode and just shoot with the phone they already have, so there's no extra cost (especially important if you're trying to shoot something with volunteer help for less than $1,000). And when I shoot off an iphone I airdrop the footage to a nearby Mac every time there's a break so that I don't run out of space.

Yet artists shoot portraits etc on pinhole cameras homemade from a shoebox for example. It’s what’s in your hands and available to you, not what the specifications tell you on the box.
I would buy that if the movie's visuals felt in any way intentionally poor. They don't to me, it just feels like the production tries to get the best out of the limited equipment available. They don't play with the limitations of it or use it to achieve a certain effect. Now that's just me, you may see that differently and that's fine, but I see no artistic value in this whatsoever.

What are you talking about? If Apple stopped being the market leader for lifestyle and fashion in computing devices, they would quickly lose marketshare, revenue, profits, talent and influence over the entire industry. That would lead to massive layoffs, poor quality products and bad customer experiences. I don't think you thought your stance through.
We have poor quality products from at least a decade, at least from software side...

Well - that IS the point, no? The iPhone isn’t cheap, but quality smartphones aren’t. However it’s moot really - they’re in the hands of plenty of people, unlike tens of thousands of quids worth of movie production cameras.
And then? Usually the iphone rising prices are, as said by apple, caused by the continuosly better camera. Well, I HATE MAKING PHOTOS! the only photos i make are items i have to sell online, so why i should spend so much money for a f....n camera??? Gimme a 2mp camera and sell me that iphone for half of the price, and ill be fine!

I guess it depends on who you talk to. I hear nothing but problems from Android and Microsoft users so compared to them, Apple is still king. But I do wish Apple had better competition to force them to innovate more and fix bugs faster too. They sometimes get complacent and lazy as market leaders.

That’s got nothing to do with anything. Talk about off topic! Who cares what your personal needs are, in relation to this thread? If apple don’t sell you the product you want, go buy from someone else. SMH.

lol the comments in this thread feel like a SNL parody
Lots of Debbie Downers on here. Mac Rumor's members will always find something to whine about. I really liked it. Visually stunning, great choreography and music, a nice story, they packed so much into 30 minutes I could scarcely believe it was that short. And speaking of Bollywood everyone should see R-R-R. I's amazing.

its ON topic instead, because apple shares these stupid videos just to say "our phones are expensive because u can make a movie with them". Most people make stupid photos with their phones, while pros will rather buy a professional camera. I mean, with 1500€ u can get a good reflex and get far more better results than the best of the phones.

from what ive heard windows has advanced a lot in last years, while apple, by my personal experience get worse at every update. In fact every time i get a new device i install the latest os and dont touch it until its end of life. when i began my apple odyssey, i was proud of it, everything was superior, now i only think that im stuck in it because of the ecosystem, and switching back to windows can be painful.

Cool. But you’re missing the point. They’re not saying “buy this phone in place of a pro set up”, nor are they saying that “this phone is better than a pro set up”.

They’re clearly saying, “look at what the actual hell that phone in your pocket can do in the right hands, and maybe in your hands”.

That is extremely apple-like. It’s what Steve Jobs envisioned with the first Mac.

You have a bee in your bonnet because you think they’re trying to justify their prices. I agree, they’re expensive - but apple don’t care about that, and they never have. They offer cheaper phones if you want. They certainly aren’t trying to justify their prices.

Fact is that iphone s camera isnt the best right now, meaning u can make same movie using another, cheaper, android. U can use even older phones as there were many other movies shotted with an iphone in the past. So all these new movies are only “reminders” to what ive said above. Why other brands are cheaper while offering equal or better camera? Because dont waste money in similar “ads” that WE pay for.

So you’re suggesting the ad in the op is lacking in quality? I don’t agree. For a phone it’s incredible footage, and incredible quality. It’s perfectly acceptable quality to shoot budget films with. And it’s an iPhone ad. I fail to see what any other camera or phone manufacturer has to do with it.

Also, it’s bordering bizarre, but do you consider the income apple earns from their products as some kind of tax? And we should have an input as to how it’s spent? ‘We’ don’t pay for their ads. We buy their products. It’s their money which we gave them in exchange for a product. They don’t owe us anything from then on. It’s not a social or income tax where one could legitimately disagree with how the money is spent.

Weird stance.

Shot on an iPhone 14 Pro.. Then sound engineered, and professionally colour graded in post.
How many times was that retouched and reworked by apple before it was released lol
Even movies and photos from pro gear under goes post production (PP). If you both watching the original unprocess footage from professional cameras, you'd be shock at how dull everything looks. If anything, the PP crew has a harder time due to significantly less data [in the iPhone footage] to push and pull to get the just right final product. Professional gear usually saves at 16-bit per pixel, while consumer saves at 8-bit per pixel.

1) i dont say its bad quality. I say that not only an iphone is capable to make a similar movie.
2) seems u dont know how merchandising works. Its enough u read one of the tons of articles “how an X device costs to a Y company”, and u ll discover that maybe 20% is for hardware, while the remaining is for developing, research and... try to guess it.

This is a ridiculous conversation. Yes of course other products can do the same thing. And yes, of course apple (or anyone) isn’t mentioning them in their adverts.

I really don’t know what you’re on about at this point.

It’s a good phone, that can make pro or semi pro grade film footage in the right hands, as the movie shows.

All else is pretty moot.

“In the right hands” 😉
