James Corden. He has more talent in his little finger than ... the rest of his whole body. In the UK he just does car insurance adverts. And that's the way it should stay .....

Now, I'm far from some Corden fanboy, but to be fair to him, he co-wrote a pretty decent comedy series which gracefully ended when it should have done. Aside from that, he has had a bit of luck with his career trajectory (especially in the last few years), considering what his salary must be now. And he was fortunate that his 'tubby loudmouth' schtick worked well in the ensemble stuff he's done (basically just The History Boys, which is at least a great film -didn't see it on stage), because that was what started it all off for him. He was responsible for one awful BBC sketch show with his mate Matthew Horne, but at least they tried!

He's from a very ordinary background and I've met him once on a production and he was a very nice fellow. I wouldn't begrudge him his success and he clearly has talent.

Now, can we please have some hatred for the odious, chauvinistic no-talent greasebag that is Piers Morgan?

PS nice username. Im off to watch some clips of play your cards right on YT now...

Sorry, I really love Apple but their original content was just bad up until now. They waited way to long for the whole carpool karaoke thing. They should have released it right after they bought the rights. Now, the momentum is gone. But as Tim mentioned, it's a learning experience for Apple. Let's just hope they will improve over time.

I know it's become sort of popular to bash this show on here, but you should really give it a chance. It actually has a lot of depth, and the character arcs are really rewarding. Like, James Corden starts out as your average not-singing-karaoke person but eventually becomes a definitely-singing-karaoke person. Then, once the song ends, th—actually, I won't spoil it for you.

Also, the cinematography is perfect; you really feel like they're all in a car!
Yes, they are all in a car, and Corden, etc. are driving. The only thing that's semi-fake is where they are driving from/to.

That said, all the very negative reactions come from people who never saw Corden's Late Late Show (and probably never saw Craig Ferguson's predecessor) - they are the talk show following Letterman/Colbert. I loved Corden's Car Pool Karaoke - I had a TiVo-ed collection of it long before Apple decided to turn it into its own show. More broadly it all goes back to Johnny Carson - maybe it's just an age thing but in the pre-DVR, pre-Betamax age a big portion of the population stayed up from 11:30PM to 1AM to watch Carson - indeed that's how SNL ended up being a hit, everyone who had watched NBC from 11:30PM Monday through Friday kept watching on Saturday out of habit & saw SNL.

Ha! I like that to think Im more Springsteen or Willis than Forsyth. Sadly. Everybody else doesn't. Good game!

Now. Talking of watching YT. And hatred of Mr Morgan. I advise you to watch the first episode of the fantastic Police Squad-esque 'A Touch Of Cloth' shown on Sky a few years ago. Very funny satire on tedious cop dramas. But their references to the odious gentleman are commonplace which I am sure you will appreciate. ;)

The hate is most likely coming from the same people who whined about Frank Ocean and not knowing who he is.

Honestly, I didn't know about Frank Ocean until his name surfaced as if he's been hiding behind a curtain for ages. I'm sure he's a great musician but I'm unfamiliar with his work. Still, I find this carpool thing from Apple to be a sad development, if this is the best thing they got.

They should've gone old school with an M-TV like channel that's 24/7. In other words, M-TV was 24/7 back in the 80s with music videos and interviews all day, all week. I remember this well when they had VJs. But instead of just standard television, they need to pull an "Mtv" with videos on live broadcast via Apple Music or Apple TV. That's how you can push content and promote music that way. Keep it simple and fresh.

The other problem is their Radio aspect where you have to pay $9.99 just to listen to Apple or Beats Radio. I think it's an insult. Way back in the old days, I used to listen to WMMS, Home of the Buzzard, when living on the east side of C-town ( I live in the New England area these days now..long story ) at home or by car, and you didn't have to pay a dime for it. It's one big reason why I like Spotify despite the ads which I don't mind.

That's why I think Apple is screwing up the radio aspect of their music endeavors and churning out bizarre shows like Carpool Karaoke. There used to be a bar in Lyndhurst near Mayfield Heights ( east side ) where they had karaoke nights but the place disappeared after that.

It was also neat that Trent Reznor worked for Apple although I know he's on tour with his NIN band. To me, it kind of felt like a conflict of interest for someone like him to be working in Apple Music. And I don't think many people remember that he used to live in Shaker Heights, not far from my old house, back in the 1990s.

Anyways, how's the Flats these days? I'm more of a Coventry person. That's my old haunt :).

Exactly, how can you say that when you haven't seen a single episode?

You still don't get it. Please re-read what I posted. Again, My point is you wouldn't know if I had or had NOT seen an episode, because I simply didn't comment on it. I stated it was "better than Planet of the Apps." But That doesn't mean I haven't seen an Episode either, which either way, the content is ridiculous in comparison. I have no other way of explaining this to you based on my opinion of Planet of the Apps. It's not difficult.

Yes. Carpool Karaoke episodes get between 5 million and up to the lofty heights of 164 million views on YouTube.

MR readers are so out of touch these days.

I wouldn't even know how to watch it.
Music, video, apps are all so hard to discover and by on the Mac, on the iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.
Youtube is so simple, it just works everywhere.

Haven't purchased music in over 2 years, haven't purchased TV or movies in longer than that. All of my app updates seem to be just bug fixes, not anything new. I think they do that to remind me I still have their app on my phone.

I go into the Apple Store and there's nothing to buy. I have the money. Thinking long and hard about the next phone. They can't seem to actually ship anything anymore.
