Apple today shared another humorous ad promoting Depth Control on the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR.

In the ad, a couple return home after spending the day out and get in bed. The man shows the woman a photo he took of her, and the woman then points out her coworker Alejandro in the background and says he is so funny. The man, who appears to be jealous, uses Depth Control to blur out Alejandro's face.

This is the second humorous Depth Control ad that Apple has shared this month, following its "Bokeh'd" spot in which one mother accuses another mother of blurring her child out of a photo. "What kind of person bokehs a child?"

Depth Control on the latest iPhones allows you to adjust the depth of field of a photo before or after you take the shot.

I liked that one. I still can't get over the fact iPhones produce the best software bokeh on a smartphone.

In the meantime triple lenses with 48 megapixels and 10x optical zoom gets introduced.

And Apple? Well they still think their camera’s are a selling point

So funny. And adorable. When rumors about the next iPhone having three lenses came out a month or so ago the usual moaners panned it hard.

Now three lenses is an iPhone killer! Apple is doomed! Again.

Great ad!

Well, seeing Apples soft- and hardware since 2012 you could assume they’re dead indeed.

What an embarrassing company it has become o_O

Why do you let an embarrassing company have so much power over your life?

That’s not healthy.
I’m slowly but steadily getting out of the expensive eco trap. My next phone is definitely not going to be an iPhone.

The ancient iPhone 8 is similar priced as the newly galaxy S10 over here. On top of that, it comes with airbuds included.

You would be insane to chose the iPhone 8.

Some of us aren’t allowed to use android because it’s a cesspool of security flaws and spyware.

I guess it's the cost of entry.

iPhone 5s on release day in Canada in 2013 started at $719 but now the Xr is $1029
I don't need Bokeh that badly.

You can get bokeh on many other phones too. It’s not that Apples iPhones have the best cameras and software these days.

Are there other phones that let you change the bokeh live, while you are composing the picture? (I really don’t know the answer - my understanding was that Pixel 3 does it only after you have taken the shot).

Yes the Huawei has this feature for more than two years now. You can change depth after the photo has been taken.

A little humorous hyperbole..."insane to choose an iphone 8"?o_O

As far as the ad, yes it's humorous for a 30 second spot and conveys the message succinctly.

Ok. We don’t get a lot of Huawei phones in this country, so not familiar.
It’s there since 2017 and since last year you can do bokeh video too in 4K

Would you seriously compare the galaxy S10 with an iPhone 8?

Even the iPhone XS can’t match the galaxy S10.

So what’s hyperbolic? The newly introduced galaxy S10 is as expensive as the iPhone 8 over here. And I’m not lying.

It’s cheaper than the iPhone XR and much cheaper than the iPhone XS.

If you can’t imagine what this will do to Apple’s market share, you must be living on the same planet as Timmy.
