am I the only one who thinks the ipad should be curved on the edges like the iphone? the iphone 6 and above feels so nice vs the boxy iphone 5. The hard edges in the 5 did not feel that great

You are not alone, and it is a pity, switched to Apple in 2000 for OSX and it was back then, nowadays it is too overpriced for the difference, especially as QC in software thanked.

I'm in the same boat. Running an ageing 2012 MacBook Pro 1TB SSD 16GB RAM.

Nothing that Apple currently offers interests me, I don't really want to leave macOS but Windows laptop are looking more and more tempting.
