Apple Shares Full Video of Today's iPhone X Event Keynote on its Website

Did they give the price of the iPhone X 256GB? I dont remember seeing it.
[doublepost=1505257003][/doublepost]Can spatial recognition for the iPhone X work with more than one user (face)?

Another thing with FaceID is that they always show unlocking to be a 2-step process: You have to look at the phone to unlock it, then you have to swipe up to get to the home screen. With TouchID, you can just press the home button and it will automatically unlock and go to the home screen.

Will you be able to just look at the phone and automatically have it unlock and go to home screen in one pass? Because if not, this is a much slower and inconvenient process.

No. You're misrepresenting how it works. You can just pick up the phone and swipe up. He showed it happens very quickly. By the time you are in a position to swipe up it has already identified your face. There's nothing to wait for...

what's the point keeping 6s/6splus in the range? 6s/7/8 - same form factor.. do they have so many units left unsold?
iPX reminds me of the 20th year anniversary mac. one-of-a-kind, wildly overpriced. they dropped the proved touch id, and screwed up all the well known gestures, etc. just plain stupid.

i just don't understand why people are so keen on this stupid e2e display. what for? w/o bezels you can't hold the bloody phone! placing items next to the edges will make it almost impossible to handle the phone. the cross app swipe on the bottom begs for accidentally dropping the phone if you do it with a single hand...

No I haven't. You should probably watch the videos again, especially the hands-on videos by third parties. You cannot unlock the phone at weird angles. You must position the phone to recognize your face. One it unlocks, then you must swipe up to go to the home screen.

It is a 2-step process. Not seamless like TouchID. At least from what we have seen so far.

Anyone that has had this on an Android phone knows how much better TOuchID is. I had this on my Nexus, and while it was a cool new technology back in 2012, it was just horrible to use day-to-day for every unlock.

I was hoping Apple really improved on the tech, particularly being able to unlock from off-angles, and while improved, it still looks like it is going to slow down the unlock procedure compared to TouchID.

For anyone who has followed the X's development, we all know this is an afterthought compromise because they couldn't get TouchID under the glass in time. So if you are praising this tech, you should probably know that it's an ad-hoc patch.

Much of the presentation was cringeworthy.

How much time spent on freaking emojis?

Really liked the iPhone X though.

I find the design a bit retro? I guess they want to be able to patent the round screen corners and camera strip at the top. But... round screen corners for viewing and editing photos, watching movies?? Seems bizarre. You pay to watch something and you can't see the corners?!

I feel this is patent based design, rather than UX based.

The cellular Apple Watch 3 actually got me really interested! Until someone said you need to own an iPhone. I would defo buy one as a music player and notification device if it didn't have to pair with an iPhone.
Don't you think it's a nod to the original? First thing I thought when I saw it.

The new phone looks amazing to me. I really do wonder what will it take for Apple to ever satisfy the people on this website? I feel like I'm on some bizarro planet where I'm the only one who actually likes their products.

You should probably watch the keynote again. Craig perfectly demonstrates that you don't have to wait for it to scan your face before unlocking. You just pick it up and it does it's thing.

Also, please tell me what the benefit is of unlocking a phone at weird angles? At some point you still have to look at it.

Again, you're misrepresenting... did they want to have TouchID under the glass? It most certainly seems they did. However, don't pretend FaceID is something they just threw together at the last second when they couldn't. An immense amount of effort has gone into this feature.

Even with TouchID under the glass, you would have had to have the screen on for it to function on the iPhone X. Which means if you didn't pick it up you'd have to manually turn the screen on and then use TouchID.

One thing I never understand is this: Why, on Windows, you can ONLY stream the live events on "Edge" browser, but watch them on ANY browser after the fact! o_O

The Apple Events channel on my third-generation Apple TV kept saying "error try again later" or something. Tried to restart it twice, still didn't work. Had to rely on a pirate stream on YouTube to watch Apple event on my Apple device.

Let me repeat that again: I had to rely on a pirated stream, on a Google streaming service, to watch an Apple stream on my Apple device.

#epicfail

I have and have had a number of Apple products, all the way back to the Apple ][, so I am a fan. The products are great but these events are hard to take.

Do they pay people to whoop and holler on cue? Any shots of the audience did not show anyone doing this so did they have paid claque in the cheap seats? Applause is one thing but all that noise is just phoney. Also, with all the technology at their disposal you would think that they could find an online thesaurus. It seemed that every presenter was "excited" to show you something, or they "can't wait" for this that or the other. Did someone tell Tim Cook to put a bit more drama into his remarks? He seemed to be trying too hard and many of the other guys did not seem to know their lines or could not read the prompters.

Can you wirelessly charge through a standard case, such as a Tech21 case?

Do many people actually tote around their expensive phones without a case?

First iPhone 10 didn’t cooperate when Craig tried to unlock it. He had to deftly move to the Backup phone. Apple it in; Kudos to Apple for doing that.

That's because, like all iphones, you have to put in the code if you've just booted up or restarted the phone. So, someone didn't boot up the phone, unlock it with the code and then put it to sleep.

I am so disappointed.. If Samsung's OS didn't suck so much, I think I'd be making the switch right now.. The Face ID is a complete joke compared to Touch ID, the "Look/Unlock?SwipeUp" is infuriating me.. It'll be quite the challenge to use that phone, living in a place like Phoenix or Las Vegas, where you pretty much wear sunglasses all day long!..

Thank you!!!!! As I have said from the start, face id is dumb, its NOT more convenient, and wont be as easy to use or work as well. They couldnt get touch id to work under screen so they cro-barred this in. When I can reach in my pocket and have the phone unlocked before i even bring out of pocket......how does face id compare with that? Its a shame and I just hope they are working overtime to get touch id to work under screen. Hopefully by the time the next Iphone comes out they will go back to touch id on their whole lineup. For me, Im probably going to just get the 8....if I upgrade at all.

I felt the whole thing had a weird feel to it. It definitely lacked the excitement of previous launches. I couldn't quite buy the idea that anyone was truly proud of what they were presenting. That said, it must have been a kick in the teeth to gradually see everything you've been working on leaked before you get to present it.

If all you guys can complain about is a notch and a bump then this iPhone scores pretty highly among the MR community in terms of looks.

Why is it called "entirely screen" / "all screen" / "frameless" etc., when clearly there is a big black frame around the screen?
Common understanding of "screen" on a smartphone = the active display area that can show pictures, video, graphics etc., no?

Did anyone get to play with reachability or the accessibility shortcut that both relied on the home button? Are they now gone, or is there another way to access those features?
