In the haste to criticize Apple, it's incorrect about IOS 14 (probably because you haven't used it yet).

The pop-up is showing what the built-in-AI has already blocked not some theoretical information.

Ooooh ok. While at it, don't forget to reset your Adversing ID, Apple's privacy focused attempts haven't found a way to remove it altogether.

Maybe those people could decide themselves if they want to maintain their privacy by requiring devs to disclose

you seem tosuggest that analytical companies and huge data research does NOT exist: nor does AirMiles and other pints based services that people have or redeem.

I have a sinking feeling that Big Data analytics that many corporations offer/use also has similar corporations that facilitate data on users. Maybe someone earning les than $60K net/ur in the USA doesn’t make sense as ther spending is limited yet those that have double - it is worth while to track their spending habits.

also your completely ignoring data hacks:

Equifax HUGE data breach for over 60 million end users in N.America alone last year!

Danger Inc over 15yrs algo having data breach with names emails photos and contact # of stars and influencers - recall Paris Hilton’s big rise to fame?!

there’s been a LOT of ransonware the past few years as well.

Credit card fraud occurs every year as well!!

how can you be blind to all of this and so many more and say with a strait face “your data isn’t tracked or shared”.
Maybe he works for an ad/tracking company (?)

Tracking isn't against you as a personal profile, you're just a random number in a system that associates your tracking data to. Also as mentioned above this data isn't just shared with the public. This ad seems to suggest that companies like Google are sharing my credit card number with people? Seems a bit absurd.
don't say that, that goes against the agenda most users here support.

remember:

apple = good

facebook/google etc. = literally hitler

They should do another ad but where one is asking the other “Hey, I know you were looking for a divorce attorney. Let me present you a few” or “Congratulations on your pregnancy!”

Now they just need end to end encryption for everything- backups etc.

“Apple reportedly abandoned plans to let customers fully encrypt back-ups of their iPhones on the company's iCloud following pressure from the FBI.”
Y, I was disappointed when I read this. iCloud backups are the weak link.

There's other similar ads out there for privacy and security but Apple made common sense whimsical so you go away knowing the opposite is Apple's goal.

Well I guess I don't need to watch the ad since the headline just tells me what it's about...
That reminds of something I saw recently that I thought was pretty funny.

That is a very nice ad to visualise the problem to people who use the arguement "I have nothing to hide". Apple is hitting Google where it hurts since Google's main business model is to actually collect that information. No collection no Google.

Although as with every closed source software, you can never be too sure what is going behind the scene. There is also the false image that people will think if they use Google/FB products on iPhone they are safe from privacy abuse. One thing I didn't like about the ad is that it does not look an Apple ad by looking at it, it does carry the image of Apple, its dark and gloomy looking. I guess Apple became IBM.

I am not sure why is Apple advertising, their stock is shooting through the roof and their market share is huge and they are only 1 of 2 alternatives. Also, why is T-Mobile in there?

I don’t work in ad tracking. I also didn’t say “data isn’t tracked”, quite the opposite. I just don’t believe it’s as nefarious as people like to portray it.

Let's try again:

Apple: "Privacy is a fundamental right as we believe. However every company has to adhere to local rules and regulations. As the forward thinking company that we are, we want to be in most markets and we will follow local laws."

When you advertise something about yourself it should be available everywhere. You can not say Tesla is an electric engine car, and they sell Diesel ones in Brazil. They should add like a fine print or something that this privacy is covered only in Europe, or it does not cover China.

When companies log where you moved your mouse pointer, which links you clicked at what time and day, and your keystrokes...yes, yes it is nefarious.

I’m not sure what type of tracking you’re referring to, can you give me some insight? It sounds like keyloggers which are used by hackers looking to gain your personal details in order to steal from you. Which is of course illegal.

Why do they even have to say such a thing if they say all local laws are followed? This way it makes apple look like a law abiding company , which it is. /s

You never know what these "cloud" services and software vendors have inside their closed source software. Once someone catches them they will give out the usually "Oops...its a bug". I used to trust companies but seems like there are no ethics here and no law enforcement. I won't be the lab rat, better safe than sorry.

humorous ad and scary that its true too..

Give people encryption and a VPN, and trust is not even on the table to consider.. Of course we'll do whatever you tell us sir.

Jump in trust, risen year over year thanks to encryption..

Open source doesn't make me feel any safer, but will relax a bit. knowing code can be looked at by many and fixed.. "potentially"

No defenses down here
