You're welcome.
Anyway, sarcasm doesn't invalidate my point, which is that I'd rather see Apple put into things that really matter at least a small percentage of the thought that they put into such stupid, useless trifles. By all means, give ecomentalists something to brag about if you wish, but do it after you've got the basics covered first.
It's 2022, the iPhone has been out for fifteen years already, and I still can't block a country prefix, I still can't block text messages sent from something other than a phone number, I still can't block text messages containing certain words. But boy, am I glad that I can choose to charge the phone at a planet-saving time (it won't do anything to save the planet, but let's gloss over that; the important thing is to be seen trying).
Well don't get me wrong, I would GLADLY take what you said about spam calls and other higher priority items. I've noticed spam calls have taken a massive dive here in the USA recently. At least for me. I would love those customization features but I imagine for a lot of people (not you and me) it would add complexity, frustration, and problems. I'd still take it tho.

Small things add up. I assume (on my part) that this was hardly an effort for Apple, just another gold star they added to the list of things changed to make it look good. Optimized Charging already charges the phone later in the morning, and not when you first pop it on the charger at night so... lol. <shrug>.

But imagine 100 million iPhones doing this vs charging at 9pm at night (or whenever you go to bed). Having 100 million iPhones do this has an impact, imo not "it won't do anything" - but I see your point, and no offense meant, just playing. Hope you have a great day :D

This is a GREAT question. I'm curious cuz Optimized Charging will charge to 80% right away then hold there till the morning.
Clean energy requires optimized charging. optimized charging requires frequent locations and system customization. Additionally if you are in a location not recognized by frequent locations, then optimized charging and clean energy settings don't apply. Additionally if you have variable charging habits, then neither of these will apply either.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that use of optimized charging in a frequent location will always result in a charged phone by the time your alarm rings. No matter what. The documentation seems to imply that for both to be active your charging habits must be consistent in a known location to the iphone.

Yep, I’m sure the is the goal that Apple is aiming for. The people who come up with all these “gotchas” about how optimized charging (and clean energy charging) won’t work perfectly, for them, are missing the big picture, that Apple has an installed base of hundreds of millions of phones, and if they can get some improvement in some of them, it’ll make a noticeable (small but measurable) difference in the world overall. And contributing to the solution is better than complaining about the amount.
