I can't put my finger on it, but these just don't seem enjoyable. It lacks a quality that that the original had, that these do not. Just seeing clip of Grande and MacFarlane and it was painful at best.

I'll let you in on a even better secret: My stocks in the company & the money I've invested in their products give me a voice to express my displeasure!

What displeasure?

We have to boost sales of this apple music thing we got going. I know. Let's make lame tv shows they can watch. Brilliant.

Silly me, I suppose having higher quality music, branding an apple ipod watch (and airpods), this homepod thing they have going, etc just don't compare.

I think it's probably in reference to Wicked, which (heheh) I haven't seen but presumably that is a song from it. There's a brief flash of the title in the background of the video.
Lol, oh okay. I read this article last night before going to sleep so I didn't put the video on. I saw "Game of Thrones" about which I know only a little and thought there was something from Game of Thrones involving green people with antlers. Then I thought, "No, that can't be right." I didn't realize "that woman" was Ariana Grande until I had my morning coffee.

She spit on a donut in a donut shop and the donut gods responded by putting a hex on her and turning her green.
Nice try. That doesn't explain the antlers though. ;)

You're looking at it wrong. That's not what the person meant. Shareholders have, if I'm not mistaken, the power to have the BoD force a CEO out if they don't like what they're seeing. I'm not a shareholder myself, however, but it wouldn't surprise me if some of them are now thinking that Cook should have gotten the boot a long time ago already. Including Jeff Williams and a few others.

This Carpool Karaoke is just plain ridiculous. It doesn't solve their Apple Music situation nor improve their market.

Now they've over produced it and taken away what made it appealing in the first place.

Yeah, it's simply awful. The original was shot on a process trailer, you could see
the car was too high vs the cars around, but at least the light was real and everything
felt authentic.
Now Apple decided to go greenscreen, you can clearly see the background is a different element,
looks fake and simply doesn't work.
The additional bits with the orchestra and some weird stuff (Will Smith episode) are just weird.
It shows how bad Apple is these days at making something fresh.
Everything is over-digested and overdone. I can see they made tons of people work on this
to make it "perfect" instead let a small creative team control it. A typical corporate BS,
tons of unnecessary middle managers, but nobody creative to have the final say.

Apple's carpool Karoake reminds me of my dad when growing up, hearing us kids say something and then trying to repeat it to make himself look cool. Instead he just came accross as an old dude trying to be "hip".

it's not a good look on anyone.

Could MR please add a "no CK" filter for content already?

*Suddenly becomes worried my username is associated with Carpool Karaoke*

I think it's two things for me.

1.) They went from ~10 minute videos to ~30 minute videos. What's fun for 10 minutes isn't always fun for 30 minutes.

2.) After watching the trailers and then these first two episodes, I think its that they've ruined the element of surprise. — With the Late Late Show version, it would just be James in the Range Rover and he would pull over to pick someone up and it would sometimes be unpredictable who would be on it if you were watching the first airing on TV and not the YouTube videos. Watching Rod Stewart carpooling, you don't expect them to pull over and suddenly have A$AP Rocky in the back singing Rod Stewart songs. Gwen Stefani episode? Suddenly George Clooney and Julia Roberts are in the back. The trailer for Apple Music was like here's everyone who's on this season, while the trailers for each episode have ruined any surprises. I can't wait for the episode with Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow, and will.i.am — I can only imagine it's a giant advertisement for Planet of the Apps.

God, I really hope they are being pulled by a trailer and not actually driving.

Can you imagine, singing our loud on camera, smiling to each other and then killing a child that walked into the road, as they were not concentrating on driving and did not brake fast enough.

Surely Apple would not be so stupid, careless and thoughtless of actual public lives to have them actually driving, as is portrayed in these shows)

They can't be actually driving.....

Can they?

They're driving, but if you look closely when they make turns, you'll see that they have two police motorcycles escorting them both in the front and back of the convoy of production vehicles, and police are blocking any cross traffic when they go through intersections. Several of the roads they drive down are completely closed to traffic.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret: you don't have to watch shows if you don't think you'll enjoy them!

Here's another little secret: one can dislike this show, cringe at Apple's embarassing celebrity worship, and not watch it!

Ah - I see the source of confusion - you thought this was a shareholder meeting! 's not. 's the forum on MacRumours.

Not that I think you need any excuse to share your opinion anyway. I think this programme looks dreadful.

Yes, great idea, let's force out the CEO that has seen them make more money than any other CEO and has taken them to being the first company on the verge of becoming a TRILLION dollar company.

I don't get the hate for Tim Cook, I really don't. Sure, he may not be as charismatic as Steve Jobs but he's done a stellar job which is why the board unanimously reinstate him year on year and he gets paid the gaziilons of dollars that he does.

Steve Jobs personally asked him to do the job, even he had faith in him, yet armchair warriors the world over with no idea how to run a multimillion dollar company themselves think they can tell he's not doing the job right.

I don't think it has anything to do with the high numbers from Apple nor does it have anything to do with becoming a trillion dollar company. It all lies in his personality and management style. He ALONE has nothing to do with the high numbers. It was the other people who did and of course, the consumers' addiction to the Apple brand.

Remember how he stated that the consumers are not a product in comparison to Google? Well, look what they're doing with the Aetna deal on Apple Watch, as an example. Look at Carpool Karaoke. What was he thinking in greenlighting this project? I could go on.

As for him being hand picked personally, I find that very hard to believe these days. Here is a link to a 2013 article which is very interesting:

https://www.thestreet.com/story/120...eve-jobs-wanted-tim-cook-to-be-apple-ceo.html

Sure, it's an op-ed piece but it does raise some good points there.

Tim is obviously a numbers guy with a lack of vision. The article is right in that they're AFRAID to fire him when they actually should have a long time ago in order to shake things up. Apple needs a shake up. BADLY. It's not about the high performing stocks or profits. It's all about him and the execs getting too comfortable with their positions, thinking they're untouchable and worrying about how to stay 'trendy' with the kids. If Tim goes, watch him personally recommend and promote Jeff Williams to CEO and it's going to get worse from there.

So who's CEO material after Cook? It can't be the Cue Ball. It can't be Williams. It can't be The Schill because he's intellectually insulting. It can't be Angela because of what she did to the Apple store and how Tim recruited her ( mind you, she told him flat out that she didn't feel right for the job but he INSISTED ). It can't be Jony Ive ( he belongs in the industrial design department, not management ). Craig? Maybe. And no, it can't be Scott Forstall because he would never return to be in the same room with these guys. It would have to be someone from the outside to bring the hammer down on them. They need a hammer. Not an a$$kisser.
