Is it possible to keep the old battery after they make the replacement?
Question about my iPhone 6S Plus:
If I get the battery replaced... can they also replace my Lightning port while they have my phone opened?
And how much does that usually cost?
It's out of warranty obviously... it's almost 3 years old!
I think the Lightning port is worn out since I have multiple cables that don't stay connected. They just fall out at the slightest movement.
Except they forced the cancer called iOS 11 on the iPhone 6S that has the battery issue.
There’s literally a chart in the link posted in this very article, which someone has generously screenshot and posted here for you. It’s not really listed anywhere that I’ve been able to find in there...
Funny how my daughter’s 6S got the battery replaced few months later the logic board died. Apple said they don’t fix the logic board so they want us to buy a new iPhone. Sometimes I’m losing trust to Apple they seems to do things that are questionable now. I want my battery to get replaced but I’m holding on to it.I was going to replace the battery in my 6S before the end of the year... even though the battery is fine. But with the new regular price only being $49 (versus $79 before), I don't think I'll bother - I won't really need one for another year or two.
I'm going to keep this 6S going for as long as I reasonably can. There's just not a compelling reason for me to upgrade, and it's a great phone.
Hence I got the tvOS profile on my iPad mini 4...I really wish there were a straightforward way to downgrade to iOS 10.3.3. I'd probably leave my phone on iOS 11 for the security patches, but I'd definitely roll my iPad Mini 4 back (for various reasons).
Pocket lint.
I had a similar problem with an iPhone 5 a few days out of warranty. They quoted me £100s of pounds to fix with a refurb replacement. Genius took pity on me, told me they'd go open it up for free... 10 minutes later they gave it back to me, minus a ton of fluff. The phone is now dead, but the lightning port works perfectly. On my way out of the store, since the problem was likely caused by my work trousers and I couldn't change those, I bought one of the mophie cases that had an integrated battery, and covered the lightning port.
Later had a problem with my iPhone 6, same thing - lint. Fixed with a safety pin myself.
Funny how our mindset has changed now. Back then we thought non-user replaceable battery is ridiculous. Now $50 battery replacement is cheap.$29 to $49... its still cheap. Although never needed to replace one, it still good pricing..
I usually get a new phone before that ever happens.
Thanks!
I had cleaned it before with a toothpick and pulled some lint out. But now I used a pin and was a little more rough with it.
It definitely helped! It now stays plugged in... but it's still doesn't make a nice solid "click" like it used to.
But hey... I'll take it! At least it will get me through until I buy one of these new iPhones!
Thanks again!!!!![]()
I agree -- very reasonable prices. As for replacing mine and my wife's phones at $29, I will do so in early November. Might as well squeeze as much life as possible out of our existing battery!
I have an X, bought in early 2018. Battery health at 90%. No Apple care.
Am I eligible for a $29 replacement before Jan 2019?

It is not the price, but the cancer OS...Even at $49, that is not a bad deal, especially if your battery is giving you trouble.
Still reasonable prices. Everyone that needed one at $29 got one or should have gotten one.
I mean, be happy the software is still good. Why should they support hardware that is literally 5+ years old? You're saying you want the low pricing or they won't replace it at all? I'm sure they'll do it for a price. Not iPhone 5S users unfortunately and still not considered with this new pricing instead they have to pay more. Go figure since iOS 12 supports this model hmmm
