Did Apple really dismantle a perfectly fine iPhone for Earth Day?
Liam is a recycling bot, so that's the "pro green" message, even though in reality Liam is a lot more about cashing in on old/broken hardware by extracting precious metals (but don't tell anyone that cynical bit, it's Earth Day).

I use Siri as little as possible. I get lousy results. For example.
There is a Nursery about a mile from the Apple HQ in CUupertino called Yamagami's Nursery. I consistently get a return from Siri as Llama Gummies Nursery. Try it.
Google always gets it right.

They're not poorly paid. They're happy to work for Apple. There'll always be a need for human skills.
Exactly. I'm not really sure why there's so much cynicism and hater-culture over an ad to bring awareness to Earth Day. Seriously.
Yeah. What you just described is what is known as "recycling". I don't quite see what would be construed as cynical.
And "reusing" too. Apple made a process to recycle iPhones and folks feel like there's some kind of hypocriticism behind it.

You can use Siri for many other things then just Yamagami's Nursery.

I did ask Siri about Liam, and I got Leah three times, and leo once. They should spend more money on engineers and making it more like google now than advertising Siri.

But Siri is on the chopping block anyways, unless Tim ups his game next sept. Samsung galaxies are looking very tempting these days.

I don't understand this commercial. That's not how Siri works.

And Liam is not alive. Why are they anthropomorphizing a mechanical arm?

Because they are spiritually dead and need to worship something.
So they worship a planet and robots.
Magic.

Maybe you guys can't talk or something. I got a joke about Liam. Siri works perfectly for me 90% or more of the time.

Because the motive has nothing to do with a cleaner environment, it's about money - aka greenwashing marketing, if you have never heard of it.

Did he just undress Siri in-front of the camera and then dump her? Damn Liam, what a thug.

No, your mind is just in the gutter. Why do people always debase everything by finding sexual references? So tiresome, juvenile and irritating.

Not everyone has the same sense of humor, or perhaps you're just uptight.

Tried asking Siri about Liam, she got it once (I got the "workaholic" response, which is cute), then she decided I'm looking for Lianne. Got bored after fourth try. Still, Liam is the most exciting Apple invention since Cook took over, and I expect it to be available in Apple Stores for €99999 soon. In rose gold.

Not a clue what happened in that first ad.

I can't imagine it selling a single iPhone.

Shame Apple is so blinded by politically correct diversity. It feels it has to make both crap ads like this and great ads like the Cookie Monster.

I tried to get Siri to say "Liam really tears me apart" but she would have nothing to do with that!

What would be great is if Apple's computers were up-gradable.
Then, their life spans would increase - and they wouldn't have to be semi-saved from the landfills.

That would be truly earth friendly.

Example :
I buy a mac mini - use it for three to five years.
And then hand it down to a nephew or boy & girl's club.
The MacOS in five years will need more memory to run, and I can double the memory for a very reasonable fee in 2021.

The mac mini continue to live.

Does it impact Apple's bottom line? - yes Tim - in a positive way.

I'm happier to buy a new machine in 2021 - vs. being pissed that it's not up-gradable and migrating to Windows 2020 or whatever. My nephew starts using a mac - buys software, apps, & gets hooked on Apple.

Also - on the bottom line bit - The mac mini I mentioned at top of this - I never bought it - I was annoyed it wasn't up-gradable when I was ready to buy in last generation for these very reasons - and so I'm typing this on a PC...

Different ads for different things.

Yeah, they are like totally aren't recycling anything at all.
