It's a 30-second spot, not a 38-second spot.

it would be if the ending suggestions were also counted.

I reckon the ad is impossible for telling people what's possible, because "if Apple wants things done their way" doesn't that obfuscate the possible ways to do things in the first place?

I think it does. Although is simpler, i would not say it always possible. Two completely different meanings.

Wonderful comercial tim apple made liked it because it shows a lot of color people like me using the Mac which is important 2 bring more integration and new ideas 4 a better world. Now bring the glowing logo back dude all females loves that they watch u a lot when u r in starbucks using it cause they know it’s an expensive machine

The macOS is the heart and soul of a Mac, but with the future clearly destined to be another iOS apps filled device, I am wondering if that idea of being a bicycle for the mind will be lost. The iPad is a great device, but very limiting, I just hope the quality of apps don’t suffer because of the holy grail dream of writing once, run everywhere.

These ads are misleading...

I have MBP 15 and while its cool and dead quite browsing using Safari or doing light work, it doesn't take much for the heat to start rising and fans kicking in. A simple FireFox browsing or DuetDisplay connection is enough, and we all know what higher heats mean for the internals of macbook.

I would never use MacBook as a working device unless my work is restricted to browsing, coding, or communicating. I converted 1 4k/5min video, it took 30min on 90C/194F trip.

Yet another ad showing off MBP's for audio work.

Yeah, look, we're 60 pages deep in the forums on a variety of audio issues plaguing the 2018-19 MBP's.

My own experience with six MBPs and 1x 2019 MBA shows T2 can't be trusted for audio. Why is Apple promoting lies?

Apple’s not going to pay to put 8 seconds of dead air on television. It’s a 30-second spot.

One of Apple's strength is advertising. Compared to other laptop manufacturers Apple is way ahead when it comes to advertising their product. They do invest a lot of money on it and in return a lot of consumer buy their product even though its somewhat overpriced with regards to features and functionality. I was considering getting a Macbook Pro 15 512GB but now I will be buying Gigabyte Aero 15 X9. For the same price with Macbook Pro 15 512GB I can have the fastest GPU in a laptop RTX 2080, 32GB Ram, i7 9th Gen and 1TB super fast SSD. A lot of content creator nowadays are using Gaming Laptop because of how powerful PC gaming laptops are when it comes to GPU and also the price point.

FYI the voiceover is from Neil Gaiman’s commencement speech at University of the Arts titled “Make Good Art”.

I know where the voiceover is from. What I meant is that you don’t get the voices of the actual creatives themselves, like in the “30 years Mac” feature video. That one was deliberately paying tribute to old and new Mac models alike, both desktop and laptop, also teasing the (then) new Mac Pro (irrespective of whether it proved to be a failure later). It’s a well rounded featurette and commercial rolled into one. The “impossible” clip is so phony and vague, it leads one to think the people are merely actors and the only purpose the chosen MacBooks serve is to look good on screen.

As of October 2016 with the TouchBar abomination, you bet Apple hasn’t had the right ports on its MacBook Pros. And the 2015 MacBook Pro as well as the old style MacBook Air have both been discontinued for over a year now. Since USB-C is Apple’s “future” then why not showcase that on a video that’s even called “Test the Impossible”? Because using an HDMI connector on your MacBook Pro/Air straight away without carrying a freakin dongle in your bag really is impossible now.

if you’re carrying around a MBP that often needs to connect via HDMI, aren’t you very likely to be carrying around an HDMI cable with it?

Yeeaah, about the coding... on my dev machine, there's a database running, a dev web server, a full-blown IDE with static code analysis, two different browsers, the asset-thingy dev server, Slack, Mail, a music player etc. That's 70+ °C, eight hours a day.

70+C with fans on or off?
If OFF then its not too bad. Have you noticed any problem with your laptops past or present do to this treatment?

It's a 2013 rMBP, the fan doesn't stop in these. And I use a custom fan curve, so it mostly sits around 3000 RPM all day. The default fan management prefers silence over cooling.

Did anyone noticed, that all MacBooks shown in dark environment or at night are old models with glowing apple? :) Looks that Apple is too shy to show new laptops at night...

People are reaching pretty hard to read all sorts of negativity into these ads. They aren't about this port or that port being the best they're about what artists use their macs to create. There is plenty of the current MacBook pro models seen in these ads but the older ones with the glowing Apple stand out more and it looks good on camera. It's not a reflection or commentary on the products, if anything it shows the longevity of Apple laptops that people are still using them for creative work rather than feeling the need to upgrade every time a new model comes out.
