Apple lost the 3D performance crown a while ago.

The A11 doesn't stand out in AnTuTu or 3DMark anymore and hasn't since a few years ago. The A11 is the undisputed champion in Geekbench though.

I appreciate the correction because if there’s one thing I hate, that spreadin FUD.

Still a powerful chip and I game on it all the time, so I know exactly.

A11 will easily last another two years keeping my phone speedy and stable, which will be more than I will need.

My next future phone will be a X3, Pixel 4 or S11. :)

Aha I really liked the

"Whats up"
"Not much"

So cliche but I suppose it got the point across.

It was translated poorly from Chinese.

The original video shows:

"You busy?"
"Yeah"

Which makes more sense given what was happening.

This I will admit is my BIGGEST disappointment with the whole mobile gaming scene, and one that coul dbe to blame for a little stagnation.

We have heard and seen from Apple, year after year these amazing tech demo's, and talk about what is possible on the latest iPhone at the time.

Then we wait, and nothing.

We just get, for the vast most part some other little silly games.

The reason, I think a LOT Of us understand this is that people are not going to pay $40 / $50 for example for a Triple A phone game.

However, I do think Apple could help a LOT here.
If the phone CAN act like a console, then ok, let's have a dock and a proper controller, sit your phone in the dock, sit back in front of your BIG SCREEN TV, the phone could charge, and you can relax with the controller in your hand and play an amazing game.

Zero reason this could not be offered by Apple tomorrow.

Apple Switch, if you want to call it that ;)

Apple might be able to carry this a bit further than others from brand name alone, but this has been tried before. The Ouya, and it failed. I think also the shield?? Though honestly I couldn't really tell you anything about that system has I have no idea aha. Apple Tv? While I do agree, mobile gaming could, and should go A LOT further than currently. As you said, I think the major reason for this, is people simply aren't willing to spend money for mobile games, and as a result developers wont make the investment. Couldn't tell you why, but its the simple truth, and it makes me cry at night holding my beautiful, powerful, iPad Pro 10.5

Thank you for saying this! I still have my iPhone 5 running iOS 6 (which actually runs at a consistent 60fps everywhere without any of those random stutters that are hideously present in today’s iOS that make it feel as though it’s running at 20fps in areas), so I can actually compare it against my 6s running iOS 12. The former is smoother and snappier with no where near the amount of that annoying input-blocking.

I just don’t get impressed with their latest chipsets anymore when the software running on them doesn’t take advantage of it like it should. You can have all the cores and highest clock speeds in the world but what’s the point if the software is crap? I would kill to see what iOS 6 runs like on today’s chips, I can only imagine because even when running on 5 year old hardware it still feels snappier and smoother in many areas than today’s offerings.

It’s further proof to me that their software has gone down hill since and the software is what has always mattered most on their devices. It’s where the real magic happens (or used to anyway), the hawrdware is just a shell that better showcases it to sell it. I remember when iPhones actually got faster and snappier every year with the chips singing along in perfect harmony with the new software but sadly that doesn’t feel the case anymore.

speak for yourself. I have a iphone 6s on ios 10.3.3 and have no random stutter you talk about

What, what? You should really try to document your stories somehow, They are so contradictory to most people's experiences, that you just sound like a troll. Not saying you are, but people might say you were, not me, that wouldn't be right, but people.

Seriously, Not saying that in some circumstances you might be right, but what are those circumstances? I know your iPhone 5 is only 32 bit, so that limits some stuff. Did you replace your battery on your 6s? It is well past its expected life now, your phone might be throttling to avoid the bad battery from causing a crash. iOs 12 is a beta and does not support 32 bit, not a production OS, so maybe you are not a good candidate for beta testing if you are using software that has hiccoughs.

What are you saying? That running some undisclosed 32 bit software on an old phone and an old iOS is somehow a better experience than running a 64 bit, version of the same software on a beta version of iOS? Details, details man

Oh, try running it in the freezer.

Yeah, yeah, yeah....amazing chip, but horrible hardware design that makes the phone overheat a lot, which throttles its performance and dims the screen. The X is not a great phone for the money. It's just ok. Using this phone in the summertime is a whole different issue: you can't really perform any processor hungry tasks, as it starts lagging like crazy due to the high temperatures.

I love the X, it never ever ever does what you describe. Are you making a video while running it in the oven?

i actually thought it was pretty cool. They didnt have to bash the competition unlike *cough cough samsung*

its not so mush that Samsung bashes the competition that makes them deplorable, it's that they bash people. Hey I get it, choose Samsung or Apple, either is more than good enough, but call people names and call them stupid? That is so Faux News!

Apple did the same thing back with those Mac vs Pc guy ads. Back then I had a Pc and those ads pissed me off. I think that’s why Apple stopped doing comparison commercials.

i still play games using 5s instead of new android . New x may good but it more worthy to get xbox ps4 just for real gaming experince .

Just tried the opening in in the background but by the time I switch windows it’s already loaded.

No idea. As you said maybe os 12
Will help.
What devices are you running.

iPhone 8. Girlfriend's iPhone 8 does it as well, as does my iPhone 6.

When I press-hold a link and select "Open in Background", it does an animation showing it load into the background. Throughout this animation and for about a second more, the current app is entirely unresponsive.

This is just one example. Going between menus is another. See how quickly you can go back and forth between a message and the messages list, or a song and the songs list. It's more than 1000 ms each time for me.
[doublepost=1532551829][/doublepost]
What do you mean by input blocking?

When 'animations' are running and the device will not accept any input. I put animations in quotes because it still happens when the animation is visibly complete, but the input blocking lasts a bit longer.

It's better than it was, and I hope iOS 12 makes it a thing of the past finally. Repeating inputs is actually quite annoying, especially when you aren't sure if it's just taking time or ignored it.

What the hell is happening to Apple? Even their commercials are becoming ... worse.

“Even”? What else is becoming worse? Best iPhone yet. Best iPads yet. Best Macs yet. Best Watch yet. What exactly is getting worse?

Apple's mobile processors are by-far the Best in the Industry ... interesting that this is the first time they're promoting it like this.

And at the end of the product cycle right before they're to launch new phones. Probably just trying really hard to clear inventory.

This is almost as bad as the Face ID commercial where the girl goes around unlocking everything with her face.
