lol. It's a phone. Most people will never them beyond reaffirming their ego's with selfies and constantly prattling in social media circles. Why Apple goes to such lengths to sell a phone is beyond me.

Apple did the same thing back with those Mac vs Pc guy ads. Back then I had a Pc and those ads pissed me off. I think that’s why Apple stopped doing comparison commercials.

They still didn't bash people... See the diff.

“Even”? What else is becoming worse? Best iPhone yet. Best iPads yet. Best Macs yet. Best Watch yet. What exactly is getting worse?

Theyj just won several awards for ads so his affirmation is also false about ads!

Thank you for saying this! I still have my iPhone 5 running iOS 6 (which actually runs at a consistent 60fps everywhere without any of those random stutters that are hideously present in today’s iOS that make it feel as though it’s running at 20fps in areas), so I can actually compare it against my 6s running iOS 12. The former is smoother and snappier with no where near the amount of that annoying input-blocking.

Where do you encounter "input blocking". And where are these "random stutters that are hideously present".

Genuine question would love to see them for myself on either my X or SE (both on iOS 11.4.1). (I hope it's not like TV banding where once ou see it it can't be unseen...). A good test is my wife, who would complain to me instantly if her phone wasn't working right. She has an 8 and she hasn't said a word regarding performance or stutters.

I would kill to see what iOS 6 runs like on today’s chips, I can only imagine because even when running on 5 year old hardware it still feels snappier and smoother in many areas than today’s offerings.

iOS 6 was a basic piece of software compared to today's iOS (and Android).

It's like cars. The OG Golf GTI I grew up with from the 70s was lighter and more fun to drive than today's equivalent. And while I look back at it fondly I understand that today's has more useful tech, the boot space is increased, it's more efficient etc. and yes it is heavier too. It's not as fun to throw around corners, but if I had to pick one to live with it'd be the new one every time.

It’s further proof to me that their software has gone down hill since and the software is what has always mattered most on their devices. It’s where the real magic happens (or used to anyway), the hawrdware is just a shell that better showcases it to sell it. I remember when iPhones actually got faster and snappier every year with the chips singing along in perfect harmony with the new software but sadly that doesn’t feel the case anymore.

I respect your opinion but I disagree with it. I think the latest software is excellent. Give me AI backed smarts, give me automatic iCloud Backups, give me always on Siri, give me Notification Centre Widgets, give me on device processing of my Photo Library, give me Continuity etc. etc. New iOS > Old iOS for me.

If you think the software has gone down hill you weren't around for original iPhone OS, which often locked up completely and required a hard reboot to resolve. Or how about the iPhone 3G with that awful keyboard lag that took way too long to finally fix.

Maybe you're talking about Mac software? I guess you weren't around for OS X's awful launch, I still can't believe Apple released either Cheetah or Puma in the state that they were. How about Yosemite and the widespread WiFi issues (damn you discoveryd!!)? Or maybe you're talking about the mess that was OS X Lion (the last release whilst Steve Jobs was alive)? [Fun fact: Lion still holds my personal record for OS X or macOS to show the most spinning beach balls].

This ad is decent though, enjoyed it.

I really miss Apple's elegant ad approach in eras gone-by. This is like every nut-busting kiddie-mind ad out there, and there are plenty of such ad approaches since sugary cereals overloaded commercials with things wiggling/floating/animating/punching through walls, etc.

Apple's veneer is getting debased!

Is your tab opening in background? That's how mine is set up.

I don't have a screen protector and disabling animations does not improve the input blocking time. The only solution I've seen is jailbreaking to remove the delay.

It's all over the OS. Half the time the keyboard pops up I start typing before it starts accepting input. People who use their device more slowly aren't likely to notice this, but for those of us who tend to use them quickly, it's been a thorn in my side ever since.

I am hearing that it might be improved for iOS 12, at least.

I was really trying to understand what you are trying to say, until you mentioned the typing. Many time I start typing in FB messenger or Viber and I have a whole word typed before it catches up. Thank you for that example.

Is it me or does it look like the guy is running a Google app on the phone?

Not if it’s set in China.
all google apps services are banned except for the translate and another one, just can’t remember its name.

Because they want to make as much money as they can. Simple as that. It is a business afterall.
[doublepost=1532733570][/doublepost]I thought the AD was pretty good. My favourite iPhone add was the if it’s not an iPhone one.

Note that I don't just mean lag, where you type the word before any of it appears, but it eventually does.

I mean input blocking, so it only starts registering the 3rd or 4th letter that you've typed, while ignoring all the ones before it.

Apple did say they're focusing on performance for iOS 12 so hopefully that aspect is taken into consideration. If people can fix it with a jailbreak, it can't be difficult for Apple themselves to address it.

I don't understand why there is so much hate for a company that makes electronic devices. If I don't like a companies products, I just don't buy them and I move on with my life. It's kind of sad to see so many people that just come here to complain about products that they don't even use. What's the point.
Spot on!
