I am honestly more excited about these than the last few phones or the latest watch. I honestly think these will be huge, probably THE big holiday gift this year. These are going to make a huge difference in my day to day life if they fit correctly and are comfortable.

I'll keep my Beats with the nice cord between them so they don't get lost so easily.

I have a number of headsets, but I have to admit, the Beats corded gets the most use. Stays secure in the ear and, as you say, the cord makes them less likely get get lost, dropped etc.

removing the headphone jack might be the most profitable small change that Apple has ever made. They save money on the phone, and get to charge $300 for a set of earbuds in the process. Better yet these earbuds have become a status symbol with students like the original white apple earbuds that came with an ipod did. And even better they are easier to lose one or both of and so will be easier to get repeat purchases of. This is going to be huge business for Apple

I've always hated these silicon adapters. I tried numerous brands without success. In the end, after having spent lots of money buying silicon type earphones, I bought my first Earpods and it was magical from day one. Now, Apple is now using this silicon type earphone also. I'm very disappointed... unless they are much more different than other brands. But so far, the only earphones that work for me are the Airpods. Can I expect this new silicon type to be so different from other brands?

Apple made, and still may make, silicone tipped earbuds.

They were great but not wireless. The silicone was super soft and pliable.

Hopefully when I get the AP Pros delivered today they will be the same silicone.

I’m curious to find out how these fare with individuals that usually have discomfort from in-ear buds after 30-50 minutes.

I tried the Bose QuietControl, 30 model I think, and my head was aching after 50 minutes into my commute. Didn’t get better after a week of doing it. Plus it was elegant looking, considering things you just had in your ear hanging by wires in front of everyone. The Bose silicon seemed almost light as a feather in the ear, so it was surprising how much discomfort occurred.

Had to switch to Bose QuietComfort 35II over ear headphones, no discomfort there, but noise cancellation seems to have degraded after 2 years.

For the QC35s, there are a lot of people complaining that the software updates made the noise cancelling worse and downgrading the software returned the noise cancelling back to before.

And this is where its at. Emojis and earplugs :)
Thank you Apple, you really did have amazing things in the pipeline.

I'm losing the excitement for Apple that I once had. Maybe this is the new Apple and we live in the nostalgic time but this new direction is worrying.

Ordered mine last night after reading Forbes review. Sounds perfect for my use cases (commuting, exercise, travel). My current AirPods are also great but don’t do well for plane travel.
you should burn Forbes. It's the worst news media outlet out there. Much better options elsewhere.

Thanks, I looked into that as well. Even did the downgrade recently, but not much of a change.

To make sure it’s not just me, I tried my girlfriend’s new QC35s, and I immediately noticed improvement. As if it actually helps reduce voices, while mine seems to do nothing in that matter. For instance, a tv with a voice to my left, I could not sense the voice in my right ear with her headphones, and helped muffle it more, while using mine, it’s almost like the voice from the left created a slight sensation in the right ear, be it a vibration, resonance, or something.

Sometimes I wonder if another issue is that the headband loosens overtime, so not enough pressure is applied. But manually applying pressure doesn’t completely solve this.

I told my girlfriend to avoid updates.

Its all a matter of preference. I absolutely love silicon ear tips. I've always wanted them on AirPods, they tend to fit my ears much much better. As of right now, AirPods fall out of my ears if I'm working out or even walking downtown with the wind. I guess they can't please everyone but I'm beyond excited to get mine today.

It's too bad they didn't sell them in black :( Don't want them to stand out so these are an automatic no...

I caved and decided to give them a try after cancelling my original order. I wanted a matte black color, but I will see if these are really improved and make the call then. Picking up a pair later today.

Sound is better compared to originals?

You get to try them yet?

Rather expensive for a set of butt-ugly ear pods that are one sneeze or one subway ride away from being lost! I luv my Apple devices, but not those ugly things. Somehow I suspect if they had been introduced by a 3rd party company people would have turned their nose up to them.

Yes. Apple made a big deal about how they designed these to feel *weightless* and early reviews are all positively reflecting that.

Easy to say now, but you'll change your mind in time.

I felt that way for a while, but I think Apple is turning the ship around. iOS on a phone combined with an Apple Watch, AppleTV, and even an older 2013 MacBook Air, and everything works so incredibly well together.

There was a long lag in updates, but I peg that more on the construction of their new campus being a distraction more that anything else. It's done now, and we're starting to see a regular tick of releases.

I see great things coming. The AirPods Pro, while stupidly expensive, are packed with tech that matches or outdoes the competition, so just another great example.

I just wish prices weren't going up^ up^ up^. Back in the iPod days, they actually worked hard to bring prices down.

Had mine for 2 hours. I was going to split usage between them and my Gen 1's in certain circumstances, now I doubt my old ones will get much use at all. The noise cancellation blocks out so much external noise, a huge improvement for where I use them - open plan office and gym.
