No wishlist and being able to sort reviews killed it for me. The only thing I hate about iOS 11 is the App Store now.

Not being able to sort reviews is stupid. Why is a 2 year old review relevant when there has been multiple updates since then? I don't even know which criteria the app store uses to sort reviews now.

Sorry, but shouldn’t they worry about something they changed that needs explanation afterwards? The old App Store design didn't need videos to explain how it works and how it is SOOOO amazing.
I think the direction Apple is heading to is bad. Hope they won’t change the iTunes Store‘s Design in the near future - but I think it’s just a matter of time for them to screw that up as well (e.g. TV app)

Wishlist is gone?

Christ...

get rid of everything that made the App Store a place you could actually "spend time" in.

I sometimes genuinely wonder if Apple GUI designers actually use the damn products...

Wondering if they are experiencing reduced App Store sales. A. There will be a learning curve. B. Today is not as immediately accessible as the Search Bar or many tiny icons of apps to click on.

Kinda wish they clustered like floating swirling clouds of apple watch-like groupings: where you touch is where you start drilling down to more-like-that. But with search bar on top, and with clear “Topics” button on bottom.

Lets see their numbers in 3-6m; sure they user tested this.

I have never bought an App from my iPhone. I had always use my MBP, browsed the Apps there and made the purchase from there. Apple has changed my likely purchases down to nil.

With the removal from iTunes that was way too bloated over the years, this new solution although probably looks "AWESOME" on paper and I bet there were loads of back pats on well done guys from Tim at their bubble reality.

Meanwhile in the real world people like myself who live in central London (SW1W to be precise) only have poor ISPs with old copper wire 1920s telephone lines type internet with max 7mb download speeds. but I have unlimited 4G data and can obtain 8 times the speed that the the conventional ISP can offer me.

Now with the 150mb download limit over mobile and the removal of app store on OSX I am now unable to download apps I paid for and more concerning is that I am now unable to download critical updates.

I am not about to install and pay for a landline based ISP at home just to appease Tim & Co and the backroom dirty deals they have agreed with US mobile operators.

I can stream Apple Music all day 24/7 and have no limits on that of course!

I have truly unlimited 4G data and my mobile provider does not count Deezer/Netflix/Soundcloud etc as part of my unlimited data! so this limit has to be US based deal that has been enforced worldwide for continuity and to hide the dirty deal part of it.

2017 and on my iPhone that I PAID for and my data plan that I PAY for, I am only able to download apps that are less than 150mb. (slow clap) well done Apple for breaking something that used to work.

I have not installed iOS 11 yet, but from what I've seen I think the new App Store redesign looks abysmal.

Probably the thing I hate most about IOS 11. My 6s is faster and smoother than it ever was but I absolutely can't use the App Store. I used to do a lot more on my MBP for IOS apps but with that ability gone and this bad application - probably will try a lot fewer apps and probably only from recommendations from other sources. Really bad Apple along with no ability to see or get apps elsewhere. If you wanted to get rid of them in iTunes - fine - give another Mac tool as books are now bought from iBooks.
Bad, bad, bad apple.

I like the redesign (but also liked the previous design). Smart design is designing to your target audience, which in this case is the "average" person. MacRumors readers and commenters are not the "average" person, at least as far as interests in tech and tech products are concerned. There is less information on each screen (larger tiles and text and images), which reduces cognitive demands while browsing. A lot of people can handle more information but a lot of people cannot. The added amount of scrolling is fine for most people - they scroll through Facebook feeds, Instagram feeds, etc. all the time. Now with each "page" there is less information, which means people can process the information better. The use of screen space is less efficient but in this case that's a good thing.

I'm not commenting on the highlighted content or anything like that but the overall design is an improvement for the typical person relative to the previous design.

There are of course shortcomings - not being able to sort reviews. Also having app categories at the top of the apps tab would be better (but again, a lot of people go to the app store to discover something new, not search for something from a specific category).

Wow and here I was thinking how much I liked the new app store since updating :p

Really I like the all the big pictures of apps and games and such and having it even more curated is awesome IMO. Compared to other app stores like Google Play and the Windows App Store this is great. Compared to the old app store I think it does some things better and some things worse but overall I like it better so far

They gonna do a video explaining why the text headers are SO BIG.

I really don't need to see Messages in gigantic font and white space that takes up 1/5th of the screen (SE).

It's totally silly IMO. And yeah the app store is a fiasco and a half. The little heartfelt stories highlighting developers that happen to be attractive is so cheesy.
I agree. Do we really need a massive block of text taking up a huge chunk of screen space just to let us know that we're in an Inbox in the Mail app every single time it's accessed? At least as you start scrolling down, the text moves up into the top navigation bar, but why can't it just appear at the top automatically so I can see more actual content.

It must have been quite a challenge to make it even harder to find the apps that you want. Epic fail. I don't know if search is better on Android, but if it is then Apple should bite the bullet and hire Google.

My father's uncle (95) keeps complaining about slightly oversized type and asks for 3 feet scrolling handles. Is this new Appstore layout targeted for 4K HDR or iPhone output ?

Since I can no longer look at the App Store on my iMac it is pretty much impossible to find what I might be looking for, to say nothing of discovering new apps. Unless developers send out emails with link to their app the chances of me ever purchasing another app (or even downloading a free one) are zero. It's just not worth the effort.

Just me or are every one of the videos in the story dead now?
Yeah, they're gone. I'm just now getting around to viewing them and they're gone. I checked the Apple YouTube account and they're gone. I even checked Apple.com in the iOS 11 App Store page and nothing. Oh well.

Another reason not to update, why update if it's basically the same? I'm still on 9.3.5 so what do I know?

Probably because it's not basically the same. In the end it comes down to the individual, as usual.
