I though the Galaxy S 7 had VASTLY better low light photo quality.
Indeed in side by side examples, both shot at the same time, the iPhone's photo quality in low light was very poor in comparison from shot's I've seen.

You're right, the Nexus 6p, for example, does good PP, and because of that, it's criticized by the Android community as having a "bad camera".

Even if you shoot in RAW, it depends on which mode you shoot, to develop that RAW, or the developing software "mode" (Adobe, DXO, SilkyPix, etc.)

Once you get good at photography and want to take it to the next level, you will be shooting in manual mode.

The problem with smartphones, they do nearly all the work, minus the composition and produce the finished jpg.

All the flagship phones take good pictures.

This is Apple's way of telling us we don't need an upgraded camera because iPhones already take amazing photos :p

This is apples way of saying the camera is the most important part of the iPhone, so when an upgrade is released, you want the best

For many, pics and video are a major factor in choosing a smart phone .

Just saying Android isn't the best way to present that argument. Where I'm sure there are a couple of Android phones that take good phones. Every single Android phone I've seen pictures from are horrible.

As a photographer I believe my HTC M8 takes excellent photos. I just do not have the same flexibility that I have with my Canon 5D Mark III.

Shooting in manual won't make a photo better.

Of course it does. Otherwise everyone would be shooting in auto....pros know what they are doing. Some amazing photography can only be achieved by having manual settings.

Especially where extreme lighting conditions cause the camera to get it wrong, and wrong exposure means worse picture.

My iPhone 6 has the most aggressive noise-reduction process I've ever seen. It turns even well-lit, outdoor daytime photos into water paintings. It also doesn't compensate for the distortion at all.

The "Photos taken with your iPhone" thread on this forum illustrates it. I was really hoping Apple would have revised the software long ago to improve it, but alas, nothing yet.

Which is why iOS 10 ships new APIs that gives third party developers access to RAW photo images.

"The new AVCapturePhotoOutput class provides a unified pipeline for all photography workflows, enabling more sophisticated control and monitoring of the entire capture process and including support for new features such as Live Photos and RAW format capture."

My partner has a Samsung Galaxy S7, and her phone takes much better photos than my iPhone. Sad but true. For me, the camera is one of the weakest points on the iPhone now.

Maybe she's just a better photographer?

You could hand me the best camera on the market and I'd still take bad pictures.

Years ago (maybe 2006) I got a phone call from my carrier. The representative asked me what features I liked about my RAZR and what I would like to see improved and / or added to the phone. That was then. Today we use our phones for more than just talking to someone - which was the only reason I wanted a phone then. Today I have a phone that contains so many more 'features' that I will never use. Talking, texting, listening to music and taking photos and videos are all I use consistently.

We've come a long way, baby.

Facepalm… go outside and try out your ideas too much internet makes this.

Mate. You have no clue about photography, sorry but that is the silliest thing I've heard for a long time. Stop pretending you know about everything .

Anybody else read the thread's title ('Apple Shares Two More 'Shot on iPhone' Videos ....') and think this was about a terrorist attack?

Ummm yeah the Zip line is a cable car... Also google 'Bregenz festival, Austria' to see some amazing images (probably not shot on iPhone). I wanna go there now :)

But they don't. They take washed out crap images. I love my iPhone but when I look at pictures from my brothers Android there is no comparison.

THANK YOU!! i agree. the iP6 photos are definitely washed out. there's no doubt about it. there's been plenty of topics regarding this issue. been shooting with a DSLR for years. i know the camera settings and where proper light it needed, nothing helps but 3rd party apps on my photos. even then, you can still see they're washed out. my iP5 took better photos than my iP6. these shot by iPhone commercials are all gimmicks. I love my iPhone, but don't try to sell me on this crap.

Mate, I don't need your approval.

pretend away....no approval necessary ;)

Have a good evening. Feel free to research why a camera has a "M" setting., and enjoy shooting with "Auto"

My iPhone works great. No complaints. Photos reflect more about the skill of the photographer rather than the camera. Perhaps your brother can offer some tips?

Cameras have an M setting for when automatics don't do what we want.

But the main thing was that you said that taking a photo in m mode would make a better photo. Nobody can take you seriously after that.

I can't agree with that. Automatic mode is universal for everyone who don't know about Manual settings. Always when you want to take better picture you have to use Manual.
