I would say the chances are pretty good. More and more rumors piling up and Gurman indicated an 'early summer' release. I'm predicting an announcement at WWDC with mid-July availability.
I'm not saying a MBP release couldn't happen, but how many times have people said rumors are piling up about AirTags? It took years to release them. Given how hardware is not introduced at WWDC very often, I'd say it's more likely that it's not being introduced on the 7th.

Yeah, but AirTags were a finished product that was delayed as a product of the environment. iMacs conversely kind of came out of nowhere and went from 'sometime this year, not likely at the April event' to being announced. Gurman said early summer for MBPs and now Prosser is hinting at WWDC hardware...

No better time to announce an even more capable Apple Silicon CPU/GPU and inspire their developers with vast amounts of power than at WWDC. Gets ahead of the back-to-school purchase timeframe. The leaked schematics indicated that the new MBPs went into EVT in March, which I guess extrapolated into a normal release timeline would put them at July availability. Oh, and this report: https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Te...-to-M1-chip-goes-into-mass-production-for-Mac which puts the processors in mass-production back in April. Only evidence we're missing is model identifiers in the code (could come in a beta soon) and limited availability of current models...

I think the chances are a lot higher than many people realize - fair enough, nobody wants to get their hopes up with the chance that they'll be dashed.

Ordering a popcorn machine for the inevitable MR bitching thread on June 7.
What’s that? The 27” iMac also comes in bright+pastel colours and has an even bigger chin?

Oh no.gif

I may be wrong, but I seem to recall Pro hardware being announced at a past WWDC. Was it the iMac Pro or MacBook Pro? And given we're all waiting for both devices and the event is for that audience, it'd seem like a fitting time.

Kinda sad how when WWDC is announced that nobody here seems to care about apps being developed or the tools that Apple has to offer at WWDC. All anyone cares about is new product. It is a developer conference after all. SMH.

It’s hard to get excited about software when you can’t see what it’s doing very well. And if it’s software for something that you aren’t interested in then that becomes a dead segment for you. There are possible exceptions, I’m sure if Apple announced a Windows VM people would be very interested but there hasn’t been rumors or leaks of something that dramatic, software wise. Doesn’t mean something exciting that is software related isn’t going to be announced but everyone is looking for hardware leaks so a major software announcement will probably actually be a surprise if it happens.

Already can feel it.
not enough hardware.
iOS 15 looks the same.
Why no new AirPods.

The new MacBook Pro isn’t “Pro” enough.
Wish they’d stop shoving this iPad crap in my face, I don’t want Tim Crooks little toys.
There ruining my macOS!!!
All crapple cares about now is emojis and impressing their mindless zombie customers, and not us real professionals.
Eww Colored Macs, what a tragedy, professional machines should only come in gray and silver

thats terrible.gif

I mean, I care a *lot* about the apps and tools. I'm super-stoked about everything Swift. I just didn't post about it. I think most actual Apple-ecosystem developers are pretty excited about WWDC every year. It's when we get our new toys!

I hope we get some hardware updates this year. A whole keynote full of OS updates is really boring.

I just want to hear what the more advanced Apple Silicon SoC's will be like. Also what's next with all 5 software platforms.

Any product release would be a bonus.

Hope Apple doesn't come up with an updated iPadOS that makes me feel that my 2020 iPad Pro doesn't have enough RAM... I don't want to buy an expensive 1TB 2021 iPad Pro just to have 16GB of RAM, that's crazy.
The way iOS/iPadOS budget the maximal RAM per app so far it seems unlikely.

Some very short memories in this thread.

Apple spent like 30 minutes of the last physical WWDC, in 2019, introducing new hardware, including the Mac Pro and the Pro Display XDR. So yes, they have a history of releasing new hardware at WWDC, especially "Pro" hardware.

16inch MBP with M1X and Magsafe PLEASE!!
I still can't decide whether I'd rather have them announce that, at/around WWDC, or an M2-based 16" MBP in September/October. But, yeah, definitely looking forward to an Apple Silicon 16" MBP (really hoping they do a new MagSafe connector, and put an ethernet jack, and maybe a USB-C jack, on the power adapter - similar to the new iMac).

Well, the focus appears to be on Mac and the MacBook Pro seems to be getting attention. Is it me or is the backlit Apple logo looks like its coming back?
