It doesn't hurt sales that behemoth Amazon, is now selling iPad's. I snagged a 2018 budget iPad for $229. In fact throughout the holiday's, Amazon had trouble keeping them in stock.
According to the Apple Hater's Playbook, discounts are a clear sign that they're too expensive and nobody wants them (so therefore Apple is DooMeD).I am sure they sold a ton of iPads during the holidays as their discounts were huge on the non-pro model (dropping as low as $229 for 32gb).
Those days are over. Unless Apple has some amazing number they want to share with us like the 100 billionth one sold or whatever. It would be nice if Apple still gave us the sales information instead of relying on estimates from research companies.
This. I think every single retail shop around the world should be reporting directly to Apple whenever they sell an iPad, because that's very possible and how we should be going about this stuff.
Shipped doesn't mean sales!
Yes — I bought some myself. Great deal!I am sure they sold a ton of iPads during the holidays as their discounts were huge on the non-pro model (dropping as low as $229 for 32gb).
There is a 329 priced iPad for those who don’t want to pay the big pro prices. They could double the sales if they could make it a bit cheaper and significantly increase their revenue on both device sales and service sales. Moronic strategy. Tim Crook should step down.
A new iPad is $329. There's likely a new one coming very soon, for probably that price. They're cheaper than ever now.
What else do you want? To get an iPad for free? Do you want Tim Cook to give you $100, instead of you paying him?
Jesus.
You are being too harsh on tablets great capabilities in this post PC world.
They are also good for Youtube and Netflix![]()

Well, look at their 17% y/y growth. Those are sales.Shipped doesn't mean sales!
I wish the iPad Pro could do real Pro work. I bought a Chromebook tablet this year and I can install any Linux app on it. I can code, develop, script, whatever I want. It also has a full browser and can install Android apps. It's not as good of a tablet experience as an iPad though. Apple has the tools to make the iPad Pro what it needs to be, but they won't do it.
They are going to increase the price for the iPad.![]()

I also used to take handwritten notes in my iPad a few years ago (at the time when the iPad didn't even have first party pen support). I stopped doing that because I stopped needing it not because there was something worng, no it is probably better. It is a typical iPad task as it works very well in a very specific use. Also good for: taking handwritten notes, drawing sketches/diagrams, reading/annotating PDFs, anserwing email/messages, editing documents, signing documents, etc.. Typical stuff people need to be productive while mobile.
The iPad is a pretty capable on-the-go device in a sleek 1lb form factor that costs as little as $229 on sale. Sounds like a good business decision for professionals that do their heavy lifting at a workstation back at the office.....which is a lot of people. They don’t need or want to carry around a laptop to every office meeting and client appointment.
When I am in a meeting and someone is clacking away on their laptop, I think: there is a person not paying a damn bit of attention to substance.....just a scribe.

In regular meetings I prefer to use a laptop because these notes need to turn themselves into a report and a prefer to start right away on a document that will become the said report.
Clacking away on their laptop is the same as those people that seem to be writing all volumes of War and Peace at each meeting. Some people like extensive notes, others prefer lighter.
But my comment was more of a joke than anything. I like the iPad, in fact I love it, my frustration with it comes from trying to shoe horn its use into all or the majority or my computational needs and running into its limitations.
