The 'About this Mac' window shows the graphics that are currently running. When it's running the integrated graphics, it'll show Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB. When it's running the discrete graphics, it'll show NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB. Disable automatic graphics switching and it'll always show NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB.

You have the right computer.

Wouldn't my about this mac look more like this in terms of the graphics card? I know it says Retina but it is the same graphics card as the one I ordered. I don't understand why the graphics would say Intel 4000 512mb?? Help is appreciated

From that screen, go to "System Report..." and then go to the "Graphics/Displays section. BOTH the Intel and NVidia will be shown.

Surprised that Apple did not have you check that first. That is tech support 101 right there, my friends.

Mine is the non retina and it shows the correct memory and card.

yep this is funny I had Photoshop running so maybe it was using the nvidia card. This is what it shows after a reboot.

+1. If you have a 2.6 model then you have the nvidia with 1gb. You can also use gfxCardStatus to change the graphics chip being used and the "about this mac" window will change. Surprised apple didn't investigate further.

Umm the Intel 4000 has 512mb and the 650 has 1GB.

Go to "about this mac" > then go to "system report" and then go to "graphics/display"

From there you'll see both graphics card and just check the VRAM for both.

This is pretty hilarious, buy something and not know how to check what you have. Just hilarious.

Koonie has already looked at the system information and i'm sure it's told him that he received the exact computer he ordered.

But he still can receive the $100 discount, right? I should try this trick too :D

the displays window in "About my Mac" will show the videocard that is active at that time. If you want to see the specs of the nVidia card, just use an app that would trigger the nvidia card (photoshop or VLC for example).

Do you have the 2.6ghz 1gb graphics model?

The $1800 2.3 ghz non-retina has 512MB. The $2200 2.6 ghz non-retina has 1GB. Apple does kind of cheap out on vram a bit. It's not as big a deal in gaming, but it can be useful for certain other things. Most people won't really be affected.

It is pretty simple, the Intel 4000 has been allotted 512 MB for Graphics, whereas the discreet Nvidia Geforce 650m has 1GB, and the 15" MBP and rMBP both have automatic graphic switching. If you click on About This Mac>More Info>System Report>Graphics/Display, you will see two Graphic Cards listed, one the Intel has 512 MB Vram, the second Geforce GT 650M has 1024MB. The mac uses the Intel Card until the discreet is needed to save power, reduce heat, etc.
