Tomorrow on Macrumors:

Nigerian prince will trade $26 million dollars for an iPhone4, if you would please do the needful and please be open to providing your financial information and locate a Western Union near you.

LOL! Best comment of the day! :D

The very first line suggesting it was Craig's List, and the fact that it advertised that the commercial was actually for an iPhone 5 would seem dead giveaways that this is implausible. The only thing worse than the ad itself is the fact that MR bought into it.

MacRumors didn't "buy into it". They merely posted it as a speculation, even though it is most likely fake it is still a "rumor". MacRumors doesn't say they believe/endorse every rumor they post.

That ad should have been flagged for screaming. No advertising agency would have posted an ad in all caps.

Yeah, arn attempted to do his homework whereas other sites would post it without having looked into previous listings of similar ads or what engadget had reported and so on and so forth. Just like he avoided posting the WWDC crap two days ago because it was unsourced and erroneous.

Puhleese. Really? Casting directors for major commercials will on occasion troll Craigslist, but no one casting for a major brand would actually list specifics. $3000 plus 10% = Amateur. It's either non-union buyout or union with no mention of residuals for a public listing. I would say that macrumors got owned on this one for even mentioning it.

I had no idea that the iPhone commercials used actors, I assumed they were just filming real people in real life situations. Aren't all American men tall and muscular IT professionals married to a beautiful Asian wife with two perfect kids and parents that know how to use technology? Why would you need to advertise for actors, just walk into the nearest house with your camera ;)

At least the pay rate went up, £4500 is worth about $30,000 dollars isn't it :p

This doesn't seem too formal for me. They've got the concept right, but their formatting and approach is lacking Apple's standards.

I'd have to say this is fake.

Can not believe I am even wasting the time to respond.

Come on folks. Casting agencies have thousands of actors readily available. They are not about to post in something as wild as Craigslist.

And to the person that attributed an earlier posting to make it look real - I have some prime Florida real estate for you.

Really.

Doing a casting call in Craig's List is pulling in the bottom dredges of the acting community.

Apple's ad agency has a very sophisticated and stealthy line for recruiting actors for commercials. They would never do a public casting call. Typically, private subscription-based portfolios are used. Some even have facial recognition software to find "the look" that you need for the type of promotion you have in mind.

This ad on CL is pure trolling.

Anyone can make this message up. Must be a prank because of the :) at the end and couple of !! Which is improper grammar. This is 100 % FAKE!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Yeah. BIG fake. If this WAS legit, would it not be announced at WWDC???

I'm with Jmann on this one. I'm an accredited critic in Dallas. You would never see a casting call like this out in the open, or on Craigslist.

Jmann's entirely correct about how the actual process would go down. This is a bogus lead. TBWA\Chiat\Day scouring Craigslist? That's hilarious.

as an actor living in la who has been to apple casting sessions i can tell you that when apple sends out break downs they use a fake company name. they would also never use a site like Craigslist to find legit talent. this has fake all over it.
