The AU store is up... why do they need to shut stores in countries not affected?

Just imagine if this happened in the real world, you local supermarket closing because they need to add new stock in China

The US store is up too.

Sorry to all you outlanders, but my wife couldn't find a 32 Gig black 5S in any of the five apple stores in the Twin Cities Metro and had to order online with a 3 week lead-time.

Apple needs to fulfill it's current orders before it opens up sales to the rest of the free world.

Pretty redonkulous!

Steve

UAE will have iPhones on November 3rd. etisalat.ae has begun taking preorders. Got myself GOLD 32GB. But they had limited supply and got over now. Anyways they will only deliver on 3rd.

Belgium here. 00:23h . Need to get some sleep, but waiting for this freaking phone.

Will it actually make a difference if we buy it now or buy it in the morning??

Your neighbor to the north is staying awake! No sleep for the fanboys :D

This is not true. The iPhone 5S was listed, contract-free and unlocked for $1049 NZD outright on Apple's NZ online store before it went down.

Interesting; there were a number of posts over at Geekzone complaining that they weren't able to buy directly from Apple.

I'm really shocked that they could miss it. It was literally right there in the home page of the Apple Online Store. Here is a screenshot from Google Cache. You can still find it yourself.

You still weren't able to buy, or put it into basket. It said currently unavailable.

It was listed on the NZ store with prices etc, however, it stated "unavailable to ship" which is probably why they were complaining.

It was stated as "unavailable to ship" for all countries that didn't get the iPhone 5S in the first wave of launches. So basically they misunderstood what it meant.

You can definitely buy the phone outright from Apple in New Zealand. When the store comes back online, that is.

OK, so it was technically listed, but wasn't available for purchase, which is what I meant. I've amended my original post to clearly show my intent.

Ah, yup. But it'll definitely be available for purchase very soon. Could be anywhere between a few minutes and a few hours, but definitely today.

Almost 01:00 and still no store. Carrier stores are extremely slow too.
2-3 weeks...very nice

Store is online again, but 2-3 weeks is a joke, why let people order the phone if they are not in stock?

Carriers in Norway have/had them in stock. It's really damn weird they give some to carriers but not to themselves. (they only had 50 but still)

I never made a purchase through Apple online store before. If would by it now, can I cancel order later? Just in case if I will find it somewhere sooner.

Yes, you can cancel after it's been processed but before it's delivered.
