It looks like the "Apple Silicon (Arm) Macs" forum may have been intended to discuss the transition from Intel to Apple Silicon, based on the forum's tagline. Instead, it seems the forum is filled with all manner of posts which might possibly be better suited in their 'normal' hardware forum.

Simply stated, if I want to discuss the new MBP, do I go to the Apple Silicon forum, or the MacBook Pro forum?

Just to point out that the "Apple Silicon (ARM) Macs" forum is the first Mac forum on the list, and the description of the "Mac Basics, Help and Buying Advice" that follows makes it sound very much like a "Noobs" forum.

That could be why it is picking up a lot of general posts that don't really belong - reading past the first item of a list has always counted as postgraduate studies!

I'd suggest, as a minimum-effort, no-extra-moderation-needed strategy:

(a) Making sure that the "Mac Basics, Help and Buying Advice" is always top of the "Macs" section.

(b) Moving "Apple Silicon (ARM) Macs" down next to the "Early Intel", "Power PC Macs" sections should help stop people treating it as a catch-all.

...Obviously, I'm assuming that the order can be set without a major software re-write.

That never got done, did it? It still appears to me that it's a mess and is only going to get worse as time goes on.

It's worse now. The forum's tag line has been changed to "Talk about Macs with ARM processors M1, M2, etc." where previously it said something about discussion the "transition". So my Mac Studio discussion goes there, or in the Mac Studio forum?

The Apple Silicon (Arm) Macs forum is redundant at this point.
