Gotta like the fact Apple increases the price of Intel Mac mini, just to get users go for the cheaper M1.

Once you go Apple Silicon, there's no turning back on Intel. Mac Mini for the go! :)

There would be if your apps weren't Rosetta 2 ready. With that as of now, i couldn't imagine a more perfect time. "My app is not gonna run under Rosetta 2 as its not been updated yet,"
...or to be better "I hate running beta software"

Gotta like the fact Apple increases the price of Intel Mac mini, just to get users go for the cheaper M1.

The i5/8GB/512GB model was 1099$ even back in 2018. Not so much a price increase as killing the i3 option. If you were considering the i3 model to begin with, the M1 is it's replacement.

Main drawback for the new Mac mini is the fact it has only 2 TB ports. If you have multiple monitors and external SSD's 2 ports is just not enough. Of course you can use HDMI for one monitor but then there's no USB pass-through to the monitor.

Perhaps - I hope - this first Mac mini is just a low-end start model and a better spec version will be available later.
I Totally agree with you and 2TB ports are the biggest reason not to buy M1 Mini yet.. Moreover - and it's probably worth mentioning - On the Intel mac mini HDMI port, I was unable to use higher resolution than 1080p. I needed to use USB-C -> DP cable to be able to use 2560x1440 resolution for my 2560p display. So - my HDMI port is unused and that would mean only one USB-C left on M1, assuming that 2560p is not achievable on M1's HDMI.

Bought a Mac Mini M1 and used my new 27" iMac as its monitor. For M1 performance reasons I sold my iMac and bought an LG 32" monitor (side by side display is perfect on a 32" monitor). I use a Luna Display dongle to feed Big Sur to my my 12.9" iPad Pro (works for my 2010 iMac too but non-retina display is a drawback).

This is the most satisfying Mac performance I've experienced since I switched from Microsoft to Apple during the Power PC days.

My 2012 Mac mini was complete garbage, real piece of entry level, first run junk which started to flaw after six months. More impressed by the Thunderbolt Display I bought along side said machine... Rock solid and still kicking.

Having given up on a new iMac in 2018, I bought the maxed out 2018 Mac mini and have never regretted it. Fast, takes a beating and can run multiple tasks (and a server... so switched on 24/7). It has been used and abused but still up to the job and no doubt will last for years to come. I cant fault the mini's shell design... not sure what folks are asking for, a smaller one? less ports? a cube forcing storage banks and third parties to redesign, forcing customers to reinvest?

If offered, I would buy another maxed out mini should the larger iMac not reveal itself any time soon... so sick of waiting. The 24" model is a toy and that stand isn't well designed... Will the large one still have an unsteady stand? Will they resolve the sideway tipping on a larger display? Will it have decent customisation, ports etc.
