Ah yes, the Kantar report that is purposely misinterpreted by Apple loyalists as to what it actually says mean while ignoring the ComScore report that directly contracts Kantar and to top that all off, Apple loyalists conveniently think the US market is the centre of the universe while ignoring the rest of the world where Apple is tanking like a rock. Would you like to know how well Apple is doing in Brazil?

Let's think about this report a bit.. Do we really really buy into "reports" from suppliers "stating" a drop in orders "indicating" a drop in sales??

Seriously... ANY supplier who would leak this type of info if true -- if true -- would likely loose their contract due to a strict NDA.. C'mon people think about it. How could the same three suppliers all quite publicly state the same circumstances ?? This information is damaging and smells like a plant. No credible supplier of Apples no less would reveal info like this, even IF true. Could be real FUD

Oh, like all the leaked parts for the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5? Information from Apple suppliers leak like a sieve.

Or maybe they are cutting orders from current supplier and moving on to another? IGZO is maybe ready? Longer battery life? Yes, please! :)

Some companies, at the peak of success, tend to relax and let the unimaginable happen. A brand that looks invincible in less than no time becomes a minor player.

My feeling is that Iphones have not been updated since the 4, with the 4s being only a bit faster and the 5 a bit longer. The software is limiting and totally boring, despite the fact that it changed the world in 2007.

Let's hope Apple will be able to surprise the world again, just like they did last decade with the iPhone.

You may have misinterpreted slightly. I wasn't lending any real credence to the rumor. I stated that you can't completely halt rumors. Rumors don't need a credible source. They merely require distribution. It can be FUD, and we'll still read about it here. The other part of the post was just that an incredibly percentage of their total business is tied to that product line.

And Apps
Again and again... iOS still has the apps
Games, producing music etc
When developers feel like android is the better platform let me know.....

Why surprise? We have discuss this months ago.
Most corporate clients of the company I worked for began taking Android seriously as part of their next strategies. Just about two years ago none of them showed any interests in Android.

So right after the holidays Apple slashes the number of iPhone 5 screens it is ordering?

Would that be the same screen that is in the new iPod touch? You know, that other product line that has huge demand at Christmas but then slows right down for the rest of the year?

That's what I thought.

Doomed.

DOOMED!

Apple is cutting orders for Samsung made processors doesn't mean weaker demand. It means Apple is moving away from Samsung. Same could be with screens.

America isn't the centre of the universe. Other global economies are in much better shape than the US, even red hot like in China. The USA economy had been dismal even before Obama came into power 5 years ago.

I'm laughing so hard at "the os is so boring"
It is supposed to?
All u care about are useless widgets and moving backgrounds? Lol

Um -- this is HARDLY a sieve... Why is this "report" limited to displays? Don't you yourself wonder that point? Yea it's possible it's BS and they are making changes to the display... You linking this report to the "leaks" before the 5's release is a bit of a stretch. I'd make the argument that those leaks were intentional - gorilla marketing at its best. Look -- you bought into it. Do you really think all those part leaks from various supply chains was totally accidental?

All this and iPad minis are selling out and are hard to find around the world....

Where i work, we can't never have enough iPhone 5. We sell them like pancakes.

Yea ok but how come this solely focuses on displays only? Why? And why would any corporation on earth reveal proprietary info like this? This is beyond a rumor. It's a quoted article citing sources...

Oh, so you think it's double reverse psychology that we get all these leaks about iProducts now even when Apple has stated they are clamping down on secrecy, eh? How about keeping it simple and stop with the conspiracy theories. The information just leaks.

If you even bothered to read the article, it is not just display orders that have been slashed in half.

When are people gonna remember that Apple's vision is to NEVER make cheap products to compete with other companies, but to make GREAT products (at all costs) to please the consumers?

I'm very skeptical of a cheap iPhone coming any time soon.

Why doesn't Apple just keep making the 4S and sell that for cheap like they already do?

I love my AppleTV, my iPad Mini, and my 2010 27" top-end iMac. For a phone nowadays I am completely impressed and happy to use my contract free, $45 a month, UNLIMITED, Samsung Galaxy S2. ($240 to buy outright)

Sure parts of its OS aren't as elegant as iOS but it's a heck of a phone/mini computer. And as much as the iPad Mini is the best form factor for a tablet, the S2s screen size is the best for a phone. This new "tall" iP5 is dumb. The old screen was simply too small and needed to be bigger overall, not just along one axis. It was always frustrating to do anything but phone stuff with it as apps evolved and became more intricate.

I agree, the screen does feel a little bit small compared to most of the top Android phones. Would love to see a 4.5" or 4.8" iPhone screen. The problem for Apple is that they are tied up trying to keep a compatible set of screen sizes and pixel densities between devices.

The iPhone 5 is a very, very good phone. But it is a lot more expensive than most of its Android rivals, and with a smaller screen. I think this doesn't help sales at all.

BS. This type of information doesn't "just leak" and gets picked up by publications. Even this post starts by stating "Apple slashes... part orders.. Due to weak demand"... Are you serious? Apple said this??? Really??

People are going iPhone 3G to iPhone 5. Mostly everyone else is holding pat because their iPhones "just work". Expect the next jump to be iPhone 4 users to the next iPhone after 5 (whenever that is). Partly because the lack of a GPU will tell sooner rather when later in overall performance.

Oh my gosh, sales of iPhones are slowing! Because most of the people in the current markets that have an iPhone have the one they want and it does what they want. The iPhone 4 and the step up to the iPhone 4S (with its GPU) do most of the current "Smart" tasks as well as they need to.

I do however agree that Apple needs to seriouslly take a look at iOS and different interface technologies. IMO it is the obsession with thinness and weight reduction that is going to eventurally kill the iPhone (and other iOS based products). Just as it was the obsession with over the top skeuomorphic design that is holding back iOS, that and the refusal to actually make workflow between Apps easier. At least Apple finally took the hint and put "Open In..." into the iOS iWorks Apps, which I take as an encouraging sign.

What doesn't help sales is the sales themselves.. It's hard to compete -- if that's your intention -- to two for one fire sales offers -- or constant discount programs pushing Samsung devices.. Some of you so badly want Apple to fall into the bigger is better abyss thats the it size of the moment. Yes the iOS will be upgraded. Drastically I highly doubt it. Why? It's mainstream now. Changes yes, drastic no. I suspect drastic with all new product lines
