AhemWho were the boneheads at Apple who thought the AW would succeed?
Yup. We know since forever that Apple is a premium brand, so nobody was expecting a bargain, but there's a fine line between "hmm, a little steep, but you know what, it's Apple so I'm comfortable with that pricetag" and "you have to be KIDDING me", and the Apple Watch isn't merely a little on the wrong side of that line, it's so far over you need binoculars to see it.Well, it is ridiculously overpriced.

This should be used as a litmus test to identify the "bozos" who should be fired immediately.
ok? I find it quite useful, especially as a fitness tracker and heart rate monitor, and as a replacement for my iPod shuffle. The Apple Watch is useless.
I say this as an Apple Watch owner.
I'm talking about notifications. People want to play with their phones only when they want to play with their phones. Otherwise it's just a nervous habit or distraction from a task at hand like driving or working. That's not desirable, it's a side effect of something else. It's like saying biting your nails is enjoyable. No one enjoys that. No, this is the exact problem. People love playing with their phones! Take a look around in any bar, bus, train, elevator, etc. Playing with the phone creates personal space and relieves anxiety--most people do not really want to replace this
I hear you. Ever since Pokemon Go was released, I am on my phone 2-3 hours per day everyday. Not that the game's that great but I enjoy the walking activity aspect built around the game for my health. But what I don't enjoy is pulling out my phone every single time I approach a Pokestop or Pokemon. That's why I can't wait until the watch app is released. I get the same health and gaming benefits without having to pull out phone every minute. That's kind of what I would liken your situation too but if you enjoy being on you phone that much, more power to you.Okay it was an overstatement. I'm glued to my phone the vast majority of my free time. I find my iPhone extremely relaxing. There's nothing like lying in bed with the world at your fingertips, and when I'm enjoying my many NYT articles or whatever else I feel like learning about, I don't like being interrupted. Or even if I'm just having a conversation via iMessage, I'm on my phone waiting for the other person to respond and I will know about it enough time without interrupting whatever it is I'm doing.
Make no mistake though, no one knows how to be more productive on an iPhone than I do. I've written numerous papers and even my valedictorian address in the notes app because sometimes things just come to me and I don't feel like pulling out my MBP.
In the past 24, I've spent 5 hours on it. I have notoriously strange usage habits. I'm eccentric I suppose

In the 80's when digital watches were all the rave and all the kids had a Casio, Citizen or Seiko, pretty much every model came in stainless steel with a metal link bracelet. There was nothing exclusive about that. It was only the worst kind of bargain bin/mail-order crap that had a nylon or plastic wristband. Those were practically disposable toy watches. And here we are 30+ years later and Apple figures that the plastic kiddie model is worth $300, and if you want a grown-up model with a leather or metal band you need to cough up $650-1000. Come on.
It should've been (and I'm being generous now, like... I'm Santa _and_ I just won the lottery type generous): $149 for the entry level toy model (aluminum case + nylon or plastic band), $299 for stainless steel + leather or milanese loop, $349 for stainless + metal link bracelet (there'd be no Hermes models). That's where the Watch belongs, value wise. The ballpark where the iPod was 10 years ago. If Cook & Ive want to cosplay Gucci & Versace they can do that in their spare time, with the blinds the **** down.
Good rant. 10/10 would read again.
On an unrelated note: if Casio would make a simple and cheap smart watch retro style they could make a killing.*
* I still wouldn't buy one.
Bunnicula! I haven't seen you in ages!
I'm definitely one waiting for the second generation. I want one of those goofy Nike ones even though I don't run enough to justify owning one. But I am in the water a lot. So I'll simply wait until summer to get one. Meanwhile my original stainless is still gorgeous and doing well. I gave a gold sport watch I had to my daughter.
I use Android a lot these days but still have my trusty SE to pair with an Apple Watch.
As long as Android watch makers insist on ignoring women's tastes and generally smaller wrists, I don't think Apple has much to worry about. There are some Android watches out there allegedly aimed at women but they are clearly afterthoughts. Only Apple seems to have designed from the ground up with both women and men in mind.
Nothing but the best for our Bunnicula!Hey there, GM!
I like that Nike band. I bought the Hermes this time. Just to get something different. It's really nice.
I want the Pokemon app for my watch too. My SE is tiny enough that I can pull it out for Pokestops but a watch app would be much more convenient and fast. Our whole family is playing. Even my husband. The last update made it more fun to play again.I'm talking about notifications. People want to play with their phones only when they want to play with their phones. It's not that I don't want a Series 2, its that my Series 0 is still doing fine for the basic tasks its used for.

3. Round vs square debate. I have a Moto360 for over a year. Looks good. Text display is not optimal, as only the center can display the full line.
One of my biggest compain with the AW is the lack of an app to let us create our own faces. I miss that from Android Wear.

Good thing Apple doesn't listen to you as Apple stock creeps back up to record highs and Tim continues to receive high praise for his leadership and the 100 of millions of dollars he gives away to worthy causes. I wonder what would make you a voice anyone would listen to?? Because you said "I told you so" ??? lol Seriously, because Apple has only sold about 10-15mm Apple Watches in 18months is a sign? Were you saying the same thing about Steve when the iPhone struggled to sell 2-5mm in 18 months? I doubt it...
I skipped the 1st gen Apple watch (Series 0). Glad I waited for the Series 2. I've had it a little over a month and it's encouraged me to get up and move around more often than I would have otherwise. So far, I've dropped about 5 pounds. No complaints here.
As for this article, I hope someone didn't actually get paid to conduct this "research". Anyone who follows any product will tell you that there is a decline in sales when word gets out that a new version is just around the corner.
You should share whatever crack you are smoking, you do know apple is set to post it's first year over year decline since 2001! All because Tim has struggled to put out up-dated products, lost of customers in Asia, and lost market share to competitors.
Millions of dollars in give ways? I think the gates foundation puts them too shame... Anyways.. I love how a 70% in sales in a new product category isn't a sign that the product is positioned wrong! Apple is lost, just like the last time Steve left... Tim isn't the person to lead anything, any idiot can be put incharge of Apple and give away to causes. ****, if they put me in charge and I will give away a billion!![]()
Pokémon Halloween update started early. 2 for 1 candies on all Pokémon transfers, double for captures and double for hatched eggs. I just collected about 250 candies during a 90 minute walk so get out there this week!Nothing but the best for our Bunnicula!Which one did you get?

I think Apple's emphasis on health and fitness is a great idea. I have moved halfway to Android now that I use two phones, but Apple has found a way to make health and fitness more fun. I would definitely have trouble with my weight if it weren't for my obsession with filling my activity rings at least half of the week.
Perhaps, but what is a smart watch? I mean that sincerely, what features that the Apple doesn't have make a watch smart?
I can see that, but what feature would they keep? (a rhetorical question)they kind of over did it, too much features. I know this sounds good but not in the case that it will take a toll on battery life, size, and having to be connected to an iphone all the time.
Yep what Idc says is gospel.Since Apple doesn't supply sales figures where is IDC getting its figures from. I would guess Watch sales come more from Apple - either in a physical store or online than 3rd parties. No one ever questions these numbers (good or bad); they just accept them as if they were official figures given by Tim Cook on an earnings call.![]()
