it's been months now, and i just can't get over the square shape. i'd sacrifice screen real estate just so it didn't look like an iPod Shuffle Air on my wrist. watches - in my mind - are round(!)

pointless. If wearables catch on people will want bigger displays and so round really isn't a good call at its hard to scale

Water resistant*. No watch is waterproof.

If you put an asterisk beside the term "water resistant*", you also need to put one beside the term "waterproof*".

A watch such as this Rolex Sea-Dweller is good to 12,000 m/39,370 ft meters - - that's deeper than any water on this planet. There may be more exacting definitions of "waterproof", but would you prefer your watches abstract or practical?

The Rolex Deepsea Challenge is an incredible watch. Only 3 of these were made btw. Theres also the Deepsea, with a water resistance of of 3900 meters.

Anyways, my only point was that there is no watch in the world that is completely water proof. There is always a limit to how resistant it can be.

I'm all for an Apple Watch, or any watch, that is water resistant, at least to 30 meters. Always my watches are water resistant to at least that limit, and the Apple Watch may be the only exception. I do hope it is water resistant to a certain extent though, but I guess we'll have to be extra careful.

How long do you imagine a ~350mAh battery will take to charge?

My bet is about an hour.

Take it off and charge it when you have your shower and eat your breakfast and be good to go till the next morning.

I hope so. My 5s would take around 2 hours to completely charge using a 12w charger. I can't imagine Watch taking longer than that.

How is the Rolex Deepsea Challenge not waterproof?

And a month or so ago when Jony Ive received the Bay Area Treasure award he talked about Watch and said someone was using the taptic engine as an alarm:

That seems to contradict Tim Cook's statements on charging. How can Watch tap you on the wrist if it's sitting on a charging stand? Which makes me wonder how long it will take the battery to charge. It would be awesome if it charged quickly enough that you could charge it before you go to bed, wear it to bed and then charge again when you get up.

The battery is small enough, especially on the small watch, that if you put allow a 2 amp charger, you could charge it under 45 minutes. But, most people won't drain their whole battery at the end of the day; Apple would be crazy if that was their goal. Say, the battery is at 30% at the end of the day. Maybe than charging with 2 amps takes 20 minutes.

The caveat should be, if your ready to pay 25K for a watch, they will make it waterproof ;-).

I too think people have forgotten how small the battery is (I know I did). As a little test, I measured how long it takes to charge my iphone 4 25% (roughly the size of an :apple:Watch battery) and it took about 24 minutes. My only concern is having to bring two cables when traveling (lightning + watch cable). What if I forget my watch charging cable? What are my options?

A very good point indeed. The front end of MagSafe charging-thingy should've been lightening compatible you know
