When I first tried this app I couldn't believe Apple made it. It's horrific
Something like FlashScore is 100x better and even that needs work
Seems Apple have given up, taking their customers as morons, pushing updates that are full of bugs and make the phone run like junk
Edit - if you think Apple sports is anywhere even close to FlashScore you truly do deserve the trash Apple released

I need for them to rework the pop-up notification. It's usually takes up too much of the screen and then when I try to swipe it away, it pulls me into the app itself. Got tired of it so I've deleted it for now.

I'm not reinstalling this until you can disable notifications. Really don't understand that.
The whole point of this app was to showcase dynamic island and live activities? Anyway, I would think turning off notifications for the app would fix your complaint.

Which notifications?
Scores during games. If you're watching, you have around a 30s delay but the app will deliver a score update immediately. Not one of life's biggest problems, but annoying while you're watching a game.

Uhh, you know this is what I'm saying right? You can't turn off notifications for the Sports app. It will send you immediate score updates 30s before you see it if you're watching a game.

As others mention, give me an option to NOT show results of a given game. Sometimes some of us have other things to do, and want to enjoy a recording of a specific game.

Maybe a quick tap on my phone or watch when we get the warning that the game is about to begin, let me mute the specific game events.
You can disable this by tapping the little clock icon

Sure you can. You can disable live activities for individual games, specific favorite teams or the whole app.

What I really want is the option to notify me only of game start and not show live scores. I often find out a game has started when someone scores for the first time, because it doesn’t remind me of game start time.

I can’t seem to find any sports app that will both reliably send me reminder notifications and also not spam me.

This would be great for the premier league etc. My son is always asking me what matches are showing on the TV and where to watch them. Then I have to start doing google searches. Would be nice if I could just open the app and have all the information there in one place.

You can disable live activities for a favorite team in the app's settings.

Still, this is not granular enough. I just want the option to be notified only at game start like every other sports app. I would use a different sports app but all the ones that used to work suddenly turned to garbage.

I use ESPN for game start and game end. I disable all the news and everything else. Works fine for that.

Would really like an iPad app and for it to display who scored closer to the NHL website instead of having to scroll through the entire roster/game sheet of players.

I don't think so. I disabled live activities for multiple teams and don't get any notifications for them at all.
Right now, in the app I see all today's NHL games. When I tap one, I can toggle the clock. But if I follow one of these teams (I tried following the Devils) and then I tap the game, I cannot toggle the clock. I know you can toggle live activities in your teams list — just pointing out there are a number of unintuitive issues with this app.

Okay? Again, if you want to disable live activities for a team you are following, you do it in the app's settings (just to the left of "Edit" in the top right menu.)

Leeds is playing Burnley in the EFL at 12p PST. I have live activities for Leeds disabled in my teams list. Yet in the list of today's games, when I tap the game, the clock icon is enabled (indicating I will get live activity notifications) and it cannot be toggled off.

My overall point is very simple: add Sports to the list of apps in Notifications that can be completely toggled on or off.

That is not how it works for me. Your description of your issue is all over the place, so I don't know what's going on. Sorry.

It's not listed in Notifications because it doesn't offer notifications, only live activities. To disable live activities for the whole app, go to Settings > Apps > Sports > Live Activities.

I want live activities for teams I want to follow, but any time you add a specific team in the Sports App, it also adds that team to the Apple News app and somehow you end up with Apple News Notifications for sports. I DON'T WANT news notifications for general sports but no matter what your notification settings are in the News app, you will always get random sports news. I thought I had cracked the code before, but immediately after this app update installed--BOOM--sports news notifications.
