Probably never. Like Apple News.Good to know about this but still waiting for it to be available in my region. Not sure when I can expect it.
I disagree , as I much enjoy the sports app.The fact Apple needs to invest in these kinds of things seems weird.
Apple should focus on making the best OS and developer tools and make sure their third party developers can thrive.
Instead of making this stuff themselves.
I disagree , as I much enjoy the sports app.
I totally forgot because I deleted mine right away as soon I downloaded for a min lolOh I'm sorry Sports app, I forgot you were there.
I think the point is ... given all the issues that need addressing, they should focus on making "picks and shovels and train tracks" ... and let others do the actual digging.
All what issues though? For the majority of people everything is fine.
Scott Forstall would've spent 5 minutes talking about this except it would be wrapped in handstitched leather
There should be enough teams of people to do more than one thing at once. 😉I think the point is ... given all the issues that need addressing, they should focus on making "picks and shovels and train tracks" ... and let others do the actual digging.
We could be here all day long, and all of next week, going through all the bugs, features that need work, Products that need updates or tweaks, Apps that don't have iPad versions (but should) ... just on and on and on and on...
"For the majority of people everything is fine."
I don't even know what to make of such a general statement.
Are computers lighting on fire?
no..
I guess everything is "fine"?
That just sets the bar so incredibly low that it's of no value.
Agree. We, those on this forum, are a minority. The minority needs to understand the majority has a completely different perspective. No it does not. Macrumours users are not typical users. For the majority of people their iPhones do everything and now that they need.
The notion on here that the sky is falling and the end is nigh is not the lived experience of the majority of users.
There’s a lot of people who would like an add free functional sports app over some specific situational software fix that they’ve never experienced.
Why only there? Aren’t we paying the same price for the iPhone and its services (like Apple One) elsewhere?
Sure. But why does Apple need to compete in that space. Deliver all the right tools and platforms so a healthy third party app space can thrive.I disagree , as I much enjoy the sports app.
Does Apple really need a Sports or Invite app
You may be right. However, my counter argument to that would be that users from other countries around the world have already paid for the hardware and they should be included in the software developments Apple makes. This one is obviously not a really important one considering this one is not really the most popular sports app or anything like that, but in cases like Apple Maps this should not happen.Typically because googles business is harvesting data.
I’m not saying apple shouldn’t be better but there’s an obvious reason for the discrepancy.
Give me the option to delay the updates. Game streams are habitually behind apples updates and spoils the games.
Just in time for the start of the NBA and NHL playoffs this weekend, the Apple Sports app has received a new Game Card Sharing feature.
![]()
With this feature, Apple Sports users can generate and share game cards for all supported leagues, whether the matchup is upcoming, live, or completed. The game cards can be shared via iMessage, on social media, and elsewhere. In addition to the NBA and NHL, the feature will be available for MLB, MLS, Formula 1, and more.
Apple's example screenshots show a game card for the recent Memphis Grizzlies vs. Golden State Warriors play-in game, complete with the final score.
The feature is available starting today, with no app update required.
Launched in February 2024, the Apple Sports app shows scores, stats, standings, upcoming games, and more for a variety of leagues. The free app is currently available on the iPhone only, in the U.S., the U.K., and Canada.

I’d be surprised if anyone is working full time on it.I wouldn't be surprised if the Apple Sports app team is in actuality, ridiculously small. It is Eddy Cue's pet project. I wouldn't expect dev-constrained Apple to devote many resources to all the localizations and integrations of the various sports and leagues worldwide, that's expensive and time-consuming. Their initial mission was to get the US/NA leagues in and fold in the rest based on popularity. Apple is not trying to replace ESPN. The app doesn't have info on cricket. They're providing a quicker loading alternative for the majority of American consumers. Maybe they'll complete the mission and fully expand worldwide, maybe they'll pull a Google and kill it because it's not worth the effort.
