Just let give me a switch to turn off Apple advertising sports I have no interest in.

Yeah very cool, but when is it gonna be available worldwide? There’s literally no reason whatsoever it’s available only in the US, UK and Canada

The fact Apple needs to invest in these kinds of things seems weird.

Apple should focus on making the best OS and developer tools and make sure their third party developers can thrive.

Instead of making this stuff themselves.
I disagree , as I much enjoy the sports app.

All what issues though? For the majority of people everything is fine.

We could be here all day long, and all of next week, going through all the bugs, features that need work, Products that need updates or tweaks, Apps that don't have iPad versions (but should) ... just on and on and on and on...

"For the majority of people everything is fine."

I don't even know what to make of such a general statement.

Are computers lighting on fire?
no..

I guess everything is "fine"?

That just sets the bar so incredibly low that it's of no value.

Scott Forstall would've spent 5 minutes talking about this except it would be wrapped in handstitched leather

Would be more like this, but hey, at least we got an iPad version which Apple doesn't even bother with anymore (looking at you Journal as well)

Did they finally add a way to manage notifications? I don't need a ding every time the game starts, someone scores or the period ends.

Does anyone else have a bug where you constantly are untoggling your favorite teams under "game updates/live activities" and then the next day they're toggled again?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Apple Sports app team is in actuality, ridiculously small. It is Eddy Cue's pet project. I wouldn't expect dev-constrained Apple to devote many resources to all the localizations and integrations of the various sports and leagues worldwide, that's expensive and time-consuming. Their initial mission was to get the US/NA leagues in and fold in the rest based on popularity. Apple is not trying to replace ESPN. The app doesn't have info on cricket. They're providing a quicker loading alternative for the majority of American consumers. Maybe they'll complete the mission and fully expand worldwide, maybe they'll pull a Google and kill it because it's not worth the effort.

No it does not. Macrumours users are not typical users. For the majority of people their iPhones do everything and more that they need.
The notion on here that the sky is falling and the end is nigh is not the lived experience of the majority of users.
There’s a lot of people who would like an add free functional sports app over some specific situational software fix that they’ve never experienced.

Agree. We, those on this forum, are a minority. The minority needs to understand the majority has a completely different perspective.

Why only there? Aren’t we paying the same price for the iPhone and its services (like Apple One) elsewhere?

Fully agree, I’m located in Mexico, don’t mind paying full price plus taxes on all of my devices (Apple is loved here, It’s among Apple’s top markets) and yet, we get half of the services.

Sure. But why does Apple need to compete in that space. Deliver all the right tools and platforms so a healthy third party app space can thrive.

Does Apple really need a Sports or Invite app? They can make a million little apps but should they really? Given how buggy their OS’es have become and the horrible UI direction some of their apps are going (look at the Photos app), they have bigger fish to fry.

No, they do not.

They especially don't need the Invite App, the design for which they ripped off (sorry .. "sherlocked" .. the cutesy name for Apple stealing) from a successful existing App.

Why did they do that and wrap it up a bit in iCloud+?

To try to bolster their subscription offering.

That's right ..
Apple stealing ideas and designs to help their own paid subscription offering.

I'm amazed people are ok with this .. let alone think it's "good"

Typically because googles business is harvesting data.
I’m not saying apple shouldn’t be better but there’s an obvious reason for the discrepancy.
You may be right. However, my counter argument to that would be that users from other countries around the world have already paid for the hardware and they should be included in the software developments Apple makes. This one is obviously not a really important one considering this one is not really the most popular sports app or anything like that, but in cases like Apple Maps this should not happen.

Just in time for the start of the NBA and NHL playoffs this weekend, the Apple Sports app has received a new Game Card Sharing feature.

Apple-Sports-Game-Card-Sharing.jpg

With this feature, Apple Sports users can generate and share game cards for all supported leagues, whether the matchup is upcoming, live, or completed. The game cards can be shared via iMessage, on social media, and elsewhere. In addition to the NBA and NHL, the feature will be available for MLB, MLS, Formula 1, and more.

Apple's example screenshots show a game card for the recent Memphis Grizzlies vs. Golden State Warriors play-in game, complete with the final score.

The feature is available starting today, with no app update required.

Launched in February 2024, the Apple Sports app shows scores, stats, standings, upcoming games, and more for a variety of leagues. The free app is currently available on the iPhone only, in the U.S., the U.K., and Canada.

Give me the option to delay the updates. Game streams are habitually behind apples updates and spoils the games.

I’d be surprised if anyone is working full time on it.

“No app update needed” and STILL manages to break what was fixed. “Apple is losing it”, “Steve wouldn’t…”, etc 🫢
