Honestly, it’s because in the long run Apple will be eying up getting more sports on Apple TV+.Sure. But why does Apple need to compete in that space. Deliver all the right tools and platforms so a healthy third party app space can thrive.
Does Apple really need a Sports or Invite app? They can make a million little apps but should they really? Given how buggy their OS’es have become and the horrible UI direction some of their apps are going (look at the Photos app), they have bigger fish to fry.
They have the baseball, and MLS.
They have narrowly missed out on a NFL package, as well as the FIFA Club World Cup.
No doubt their aim will be to get similar deals over the line.
Streaming providers are making a big deal about live interactive stats, as well the lack of a delay on streams these days. This is where Apple will be competing.
