Try the app Sports Alerts. Works great on the lockscreen and dynamic island. Plus they have a lot more sports leagues, even tennis.
I do have this app and I agree, it’s great! All I’m saying is that I wish big name app developers would stop being lazy and support already existing api’s and features in their apps. It’s always the small app developers that go above and beyond (which I do appreciate).

This is a much needed addition to the app. The Apple TV app was always great at providing Live Activities for MLB, so I'm looking forward to it doing the same for the NFL and college football. Now I don't need to have additional apps installed for those Live Activities.

I love the MLS app on ATV. It lets me not show scores so I can watch replays without them being spoiled. I just have to scroll down thru the highlight icons showing various goals and domination by one team or the other until I come to the replay icon showing a team with the medals around their neck holding the trophy in a joyous manner. Thank goodness they didn't show the score.

Why do the simplest things require a major iOS update to use? Live activities have been a thing for 2 years.

Add this app to the long list that will eventually get thrown to the corner and rarely updated.

It only exists because one guy…Eddie Cue wanted it.
Most likely new APIs, not everything is a conspiracy theory.

Maybe that explains why live activities for MLB have stopped working with the TV app for me recently, I guess they’re transitioning the capability.
Still works for me.

So they're going to transition the live activites to the sports app and the apple TV won't work anymore correct?

Exactly! Another possibility is simply that they have to make sure the Apple TV app is updated before the Sports app to maintain continuity for Live Activities.

The Apple TV app stopped working reliably with Live Activities about two weeks ago for me. I had to start following MLB games from Spotlight Search to get the scores again.

Okay but how about an iPad app?

I also would like it if they’d add a static widget you could put on your Home Screen for current scores and the dates and times of upcoming games. Sometimes I like to know that stuff but I don’t need a detailed play by play on my lock screen.

Unless I can get rid of the sports I don't want to see, I have no interest. I want NFL, MLB, NBA, and college football. Nothing more.

Finally! It was always awkward and confusing having to manage your sports teams and live activities in the News and TV apps. I never really did get the hang of it so stopped using it. Hopefully this will make it easier.

Fix notifications of scores please. It is horrible- no need to notify me at 2am when my team is on the west coast. Not in settings or notifications, had to delete the sports app.

They need a feature to delay the updates by 30-60 seconds. It's too on time! If I'm watching a game streaming, I'll get an alert on my phone when someone scores - before it happens on my TV! I have to turn these on and off for when I'm watching games and not watching them.
Same here. I leave the notifications on but I dont look. Still, sometimes it's obvious. Lined up for a long kick and my watch goes DING. Well, let's see how it looked at least. Ha.

Timing of the release is curious. They had to play a lot of catchup after the initial release and decided to put all their effort into getting the next rev out before the fall sports season starts. That meant no Olympics or individual sports like golf, tennis (US Open happening right now), or racing. There's still a lot of work to do, though kudos if they can catch up more without the result feeling bloated like ESPN.
