I do understand the concept. More importantly, either Tim Cook understands the concept or he made an uneducated decision. Which do you believe to be true?
People make decisions without data, and even in spite of conclusions formed from that data quite frequently.

Last time I checked Tim Cook is a person and is capable of making mistakes.

Sure, just like people who start to WFH and now have more potential distractions.

But Tim Cook and his underlings have a lot of data.

Tim Cook made the decision. He’s part of the “we.” This isn’t hard.
You're right, it's isn't.

So Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, who's mind you cannot read, so you don't know if he thinks it was a coincidence or not, took your personal assessment of Apple's relative software quality and WWDC, which itself was based on your personal perception of MacRumors comment distribution, as "evidence" that he should make the Apple WFH policy he did?

Curious that he, the most powerful person at Apple, would respond to such clear "evidence" of the dramatic drop in software quality control—the worst in 40 years!—not by eliminating the culprit, WFH, but expanding it to the most generous in company history!

Rather than—free from pandemic restrictions—reinstate the previous policy that was in place for the 40+ years that led to better quality control, Tim decided "I'm willing to take that dive in quality I could totally prevent just by going back to the way things were, but....nah."

Apple's board is going to be angry.

Tim Cook isn’t expanding WFH.

Tim Cook is also requiring everyone back to the office for at least three days per week for a reason(s) and not just for the hell of it.

Or driving to work and having more potential ways to die. We can go down the rabbit hole if you want.

how about we start with the distractions thing. Even a large home has what, maybe 7 people in it, but most who expect to work remotely full time are going to find a space that they can have to themselves.

The Apple campus has 12000 people, and “open plan” working spaces which staff actively complained about (and refused to move) when the building was new.

what other potentials would you like to compare?

Great.

I assure you Tim Cook has better metrics than "some rando on a forum didn't enjoy the keynote" and "that same rando thinks software quality has declined dramatically in the past 12 months".

I’m sure he does, which is why he’s ordering everyone to get their rear ends to the office at least three days per week. That’s been my point all along.

None, because this is a waste of time.

Your point seems to be “Tim cook said so, so it must be correct” while also complaining that the keynote which Tim Cook also approved was boring.

which is it? Is Tim Cook capable of faults/mistakes/poor decisions or not?

He isn't?!?!

That might be news to Apple, and all the outlets that reported the change.

Apple employees are being asked to return to the office three days a week starting in early September. Tim Cook sent out an email Wednesday informing staff of the change.
While employees have worked remotely during the coronavirus pandemic, the company famously discouraged working from home prior to 2020.

So, explain how this:

Tim Cook isn’t expanding WFH.
is your conclusion?

No, that’s never been my point. I’m not at all a Tim Cook fan.

This thread gets more bizarre every time i look at it lol. It’s like a small shiver of sharks programmed with a ‘working from home’ rhetoric going after one defiant poster. The vocal majority that originally condemned these employees and agreed with this poster have now swam to safety lol. Love it :)

This is ridiculous. This thread wouldn’t exist if Apple employees thought Tim Cook was “expanding WFH.” Please stop wasting our time with this.

I am, indeed, a glutton for punishment. Haha.

Apple's new policy is an expansion of their previous WFH policy.

That is a provable fact with a direct connection, regardless of what Apple employees "think".

Great. Take it up with the whiny Apple employees who believe Tim Cook is reducing WFH by 60%.
