It’s being held at an opera house. Something big coming for Apple Music?
I've been thinking the same thing - with it being held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music there must be some music related announcement they are making, not sure what though. Could be just airpods? Just an overall creativity focused theme with music wrapped into it??

Since we're expecting a lot of Macs refresh and I'm hoping a very good update, I think this event should have been held back at the Steve Jobs theater. With the previous lackluster iPhone event, I think that should have been held somewhere else.

I was going to rip into you for not making a meaningful comment, not moving the discussion forward, just adding a negative comment to the thread. But then I didn't for two reasons:
1) How would I be acting differently?
2) I actually watched the video and you are right, the music is so bad it is worth commenting on. And quickly muting.

In any case, I am hoping Apple is going to present a new iPad Pro as rumoured but more... And I don't just mean the Apple Pencil 2 (which, if the USB Type C connector rumour is true then the Apple Pencil 2 probably won't charge from older iPad Pros and may not be compatible).

What I am hoping to see is a new, and newly imagined, Mac Mini. Not because I need one myself but I am tired of cautioning people about how bad a deal the "current" Mac Mini is. Apple might just do a silent upgrade though I am hoping they give it some time on stage to reinforce their message that they still care about Macs.

In any case, you were so right about the music.

I just clicked on the video cause I did not believe that this could be that bad. But holy **** wtf is this music? Someone hitting random notes out of no scale or key??? Is this from one of those my-cat-plays-keyboard YouTube videos? This is hurtig my ears!

For some reason, this seems like a bit too much for a simple iPad event. The theatrical layout / building, it's not a typical small stage presentation. Then the fact that it's in New York. I think there might be more in store.

Steve Jobs' hologram presenting the show!

So 10:00AM EST is 7:00AM PST (aren't I smart?). Ya gotta be a real diehard Apple fanto wanna watch this thing that early in the morning in CA.

I also think there might be some big music announcement. I've wondered for a while if iTunes will be retired and replaced with new separate music, video and podcast apps.

Ahead of next Tuesday's event focused on new iPad Pro and Mac models, Apple has started decorating the Howard Gilman Opera House at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City, which is where the event is set to take place.

Japanese site Mac Otakara this afternoon shared a YouTube video that shows the progress on the decorations at the site.

Apple is applying colorful decals to the arched windows on one side the building in an abstract pattern that looks a little like stained glass. On the other side, there's an arched pattern that's also gaining a colorful set of decals over the bricks of the building.

Over the course of the weekend, Apple is likely to add additional decorations like banners and signs with Apple logos and the same colorful patterns that are being applied to the building.

At Apple's event, we're expecting to see refreshed iPad Pro models with edge-to-edge displays, no Home button, USB-C instead of Lightning, and a TrueDepth camera system for Face ID. The iPad Pro may be accompanied by a second-generation Apple Pencil and we could get a refreshed iPad mini as well.

We're also expecting Apple to refresh a number of Macs, including the 12-inch MacBook, the iMac, and the Mac mini, and there are rumors of a new 13-inch low-cost notebook with a Retina display that could be positioned as either a MacBook or a MacBook Air.

Apple's October 30th event is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time because it's taking place on the East Coast instead of the West Coast. Apple will live stream the event on its website and through the Events app on the Apple TV.

For those unable to watch, MacRumors will have live coverage of the event both here on the site and on our MacRumorsLive Twitter account.

Grammar police. Getting tired of sentences starting with prepositional phrases. Better written as ...

Apple has started decorating the Howard Gilman Opera House at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City ahead of next Tuesday's event focused on new iPad Pro and Mac models.

Believe me, lots of Europeans hate it now that it's held on the east coast, instead of just after diner time it starts before most people are at home at about 16.00.
Not a huge problem for me though, I just stop a bit earlier.

Agreed.

Other than I have a meeting for about 15 minutes of it I'm glad I don't have to skip lunch to watch (CDT time)

Another interesting thing about this is that the event is literally across the street from their new Downtown Brooklyn store Lol.

That team is probably feeling pretty lucky.
I have a feeling that's partly why the even is there.
And it sucks that after years of watching these evens online, they finally have one at BAM, right next to where I USED to live for 10 years.

Apple can hit the biggest event in tech for the last 5 years if they
-redesign inside and outside the imacs
-redesign also with proper internals and thermals good enough for an mac mini very efficient and silent
-ipad pro faceid very compact and light weight ,support for 4k@60hz
-best pencil and pencil support
-13” macbook
-airpods with siri support and Qi charging case
-airpower release
-sneak peek mac pro and that apple display

Daaamnnn that’s crazy Lol. You just missed them. And yeah it makes sense that they’d want to be near one of their stores.

Must say that the venue and all the colour full logos worries me a little. If we're going to get new versions of everything, why do it there and with 340 different logos. To me it says "look how creative you can be with our new product", and to be honest, there is nothing creative about a Mac mini/iMac speed bump. I think it will be all about iPad pro and maybe the new air pod. So based on experience, let's not be carried away.

sorry to say, but using imac or even a newer mac mini and photoshop or affinity photos or final cut pro it is far easier to create things

Probably Monday will start to see hard leaks from Apple like we got with the last event
