Would wireless charging fry our organs? How about wifi and 5G frying our organs and heating the planet?
Are 5G and Wi-Fi waves powerful enough to charge your phone at 5w or even 18w over a distance? Welcome to enlighten me.

Make it right, make it good, then release it! Not before. Way to go for quality products.

Who even cares anymore.. airpower is like 3 year old news.

that’ll teach Apple to hype and announce before they even finalized a design:D

Apple fails to deliver on AirPower - gets raked over the coals for it.

Google has shuttered numerous services - met with a collective shrug of indifference. Whatever happened to that automated call-answering service (Duplex or something) that received so much fanfare here again?

Double standards much?

Long range wireless charging will be really wonderful to have. But it is definitely at least a few years away

Apple is always working on new technologies behind the scenes. Once the technology begins to mature and stabilize, it then moves into the product development phase.

In other words, even when Apple is not actively developing a new wireless charger or HomePod, it does not mean they are not working on those technologies in their R&D labs.
You beat me to it  its as if people just think Apple is working on what they know and what the rumours are

Hello Google Wave 😆

I'd love an iMac that has a wireless transmitter in the base that could keep my keyboard, mouse, AirPods, Apple Watch and iPhone charged during the day. Would only need a range of a meter or less. Something like that would also be great for a night stand. Just toss all your Apple crap on there and it charges.
WattUp. That's been the dream of Energous https://energous.com/ for as long as they've been around. Haven't thought about them in years. There use to be vigorous discussion in these forums about their tech. I think they're in some deal with Dialog Semi now.

Apple got raked over the coals because they diverged from their norm and announced a product that -here's the key- they never released.

Google does shutter many products and services -here's the key- after they actually release them. Google is known for trying out their tech in the general public. If it works, they keep it up. If it doesn't, they don't. That is their norm, so of course people are indifferent. It's what we expect from Google. It's not the expectation of Apple.

As for Duplex? Bruh, you chose the wrong example to bolster your argument. The internet is your friend. https://www.theverge.com/2021/4/1/22361729/google-duplex-ai-reservation-availability-49-us-states

Apple bought a couple of companies years ago that had developed a wireless charging technology. PowerbyProxi out of New Zealand was the most recent in 2017. So, I wonder what’s taking so long?

Based on the prices of current “good” brand charging stations, I want to see how Apple is going to pull off getting people to pay $250-$300 for a wireless charger lol.

Yeah, I think I read about medium range charging via RF waves like 20 years ago in Popular Science (or Mechanics, maybe?). Like everything in those magazines, it was "Coming Soon" with multiple companies on the verge of commercially viable products. Like table lamps that would charge compatible devices within a 2ft radius.

Based on how they priced their portable dual charger I imagine this thing would be priced at 299. Even if they release it, I'll have a good laugh about that.

In addition to a wireless charger that's similar to the AirPower, Apple is also said to be "internally investigating" alternative wireless charging methods that can work over greater distances.
This is what wireless charging should be.

Press Release, June 4 2021:

Apple announces AirCharge, a long range wireless charging solution that requires no wires by utilizing a uniquely patented solution. AirCharge delivers power over air through an air filled copper conduit, eliminating the need for unsightly wires. Additionally, the conduit can be used for a variety of useful purposes, such as water delivery, cooling (heat sink), cable management, and many more. AirCharge.jpg
Apple engineer Nick Testa created this revolutionary device while visiting his brother Chuck

People try to “rake Apple over the coals”. Doesn’t amount to a hill of beans. At times hyperbole reigns supreme in an online forum. That said apple isn’t perfect and the AirPower announcement was very out of place for apple. What were they thinking.

But it will be interesting to see what develops in the future.

Wireless chargers are convenient but I have found that many times my phone was not charged because it was not placed exactly in the right spot. The technology should improve or directly go for true wireless charging with at least a meter of range.

Or you learn to look for the charging icon after placing the device down. I have never had that fail. Charging icon, good to go. No charging icon, move the device. Repeat until good to go. beats waking up in the morning not good to go. just saying.

wow, I have heard it all. Apple wireless charging charges "different" than others. Ha ha. That's a good one.

Man, MR does love AirPower rumors…

It's almost like people were sitting around the table saying, 'it's getting harder and harder to milk these MacBook Pro 14 inch model rumors, we need a new rumor. or at least an old rumor that died that can be revived and give us something to talk about again that seems to be new but isn't...'

It’ll be called the AirPower Actual.
Airpower IR. (irrelevant). Many versions of airpower are available now. I would not waste my time apple if I were you. That ship has sailed. Concentrate on something else like I don't know, making iOS stable again.
