iTunes logo is fine. Steve is right, CD's are the past. Get over it. Technology is moving on. **** physical copy's.

The old icon being bad doesn't make the new icon good.

They should have just taken the iPhone iTunes Music Store icon. That'd have looked much better.

Just like the postage stamps on the Mail app are outdated?

I agree CDs are outdated, but that doesn't mean you should remove something that many people can relate to instantly in replacement for a crappy and uninformative web 2.0 icon.

I see your point. I have been buying CD's for almost 12 years. This past March when I went full on digital, it's so nice not having to get a CD...wait for it in the mail, open it, rip it and then find a place for it. Apple's high quality encoding is enough for me that I can't hear a difference. I am so happy I am done with CD's. I haven't gone in a few months and say oooh, let's go get a CD. Plus you're technically going green buying digital music.

Sorry if some of that didn't make sense it's really early.

+1

Am I the only one who thinks the blue circle looks like another CD? That was the first thing that came to my mind when he showed it on the big screen.

Me too, but I thought SJ is right, it is clearly not a CD since the blue means a Blue Ray Disc! lol

You could just put all the apps you don't use in one folder and like call it something like "useless" then you don't have to worry about them that much as you wouldn't have to into that folder.

I have a better name for the folder.

It'd be a good option to be able to control which native apps you have. The only unneccesary one I think is the contact app, since it's already in the phone app.

I paid for my ipod touch and my imac through reffing and mowing 30 peoples lawns but boy was it worth it... now to start saving for my car in 2 years. I am 14 btw

Just put them in a god damn folder and put that folder on the last page and quit complaining. Sheesh!! Just because you don't use it doesn't mean every other iPhone user doesn't use them either

We have this new, ugly iTunes X logo and you're harping on apps you don't use. Get your priorities straight.

If you want the old one back, just change it.

As to the default apps, yeah, I agree to some extent. I like that they're on the phone by default, but I'd at least like to be able to uninstall them optionally, or hide the icons. But then, I guess that's what jailbreaking is for.

its not so much the removal of the CD as it is the fact that it really doesn't fit with the rest of the iLife logos anymore

looks like a 3rd party app now

Given that the average iPhone user is a tweenster/teenster, I would probably agree with you, Stocks/Voice Memo's are completely useless for kids.

I see people of all ages using an iPhone and Steve Jobs probably has a lot of stocks he likes to keep tabs on.

IMO that the apps are there isn't as bad as the fact that we still don't have a great way of organizing them. Folders as they exist now are very inelegant and unApple. How many people's iPhones do you see where there first page is completely littered with folders? The folder icons look the same and ugly and its inefficient to have to read the name of the folders to get an idea of whats inside. Squinting at the mini-icons inside the folders is terrible, plus it only shows up to 9 of a possible 12 apps in there.

Give me customizable folder icons so I can mentally link an image to a category of app. And then I can have the turd-folder icon for voice memos and stocks.

I dunno why Folders aren't like Stacks, would make more sense, aesthetic wise. At the very least, why not display 4 apps in the folder icon instead of leaving this open space (as you reach 9 apps, you see 9 little app icons in the folder). Poor aesthetics if you ask me.

If u don't like the logo change it on your computer, it's apples marketing not yours. If u like apples stuff ur still gun a buy it, I happen to like the new one, it is a little plain but otherwise still nice

Im not bothered that much, but if they would allow to make some native apps invisible like nike+ I would be happy.

I just liked the good old days of just one page of apps. Now, that's not even possible with a clean install. Apple's apps now extend into multiple pages by DEFAULT.

I want to uninstall Voice Memos, Compass (what a useless app), Socks and Game Center.

Also, why do I need a separate Contacts app when all of my contacts are neatly inside the phone app? Why can't Camera and Photos be combined into one icon as well?

Like others said, put it in a folder. I actually use voice memos and compass, it comes in handy for work.

I never said they didn't come in handy for other people, but I don't want them. I think voice memos and stuff should be optional installs.

Those apps should be just like iBooks and the MobileMe apps. Downloadable for free (if you WANT them).

Imagine if iBooks, Find my iPhone and iDisk came pre-installed on every device with no way of uninstalling or hiding them?

You cant do that with SSH?

SSH? Sure, I can hack my phone and remove the apps, but I'd rather not have to jailbreak.

I'm not saying they're impossible to get rid of, I just think Apple should change the way they give us these mandatory apps. They should make them optional instead.

How would you like it if your computer came with a bunch of free software that you don't wan't, but the only way to remove them is to change the root password and log in as administrator to remove them? The average person isn't going to know to do that.
