It can also happen, that they ditch the aluminium casing for something else, that is more simpler to build and also "eco-friendly".
Love to educate you that aluminum is very easy to recycle, so is already "eco-trendy".

I'm not sure why anyone thinks Apple will make a pro grade iMac in bright yellow or whatever.

You'll get your Darth Vader colors.
We can only hope that they embrace the dark side. Although I could live with a deep cherry red as long as it includes black bezels and black keys on the keyboard.

Apple this week stopped selling its Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad, Magic Mouse 2, and Magic Trackpad 2 accessories for the Mac in a Space Gray color, around three months after discontinuing the iMac Pro, which also came in Space Gray.

Last month, Apple listed the Space Gray accessories as available while supplies last, and the company has now removed the product pages from its website entirely, as spotted by Appleosophy. The accessories remain available in Silver, but keep in mind they have not been updated since October 2015.

The new iMac with the M1 chip is available with colorful new Magic accessories, including a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, but Apple has not yet made these accessories available for purchase on a standalone basis.

I love the SG look, the trackpad and keyboard are great, be nice if the keyboard lit up through as sometimes my touch-typing is a little off.

Not only is aluminum recyclable, it's also profitable. I ran a recycle-a-bike group that took a bin full of aluminum parts, and I walked out with a check for over $300.00! Not bad, not bad at all... Steel got us peanuts in comparison.

I save as much aluminum from going into the trash as I can because it's surprisingly good value to recycle. CHA-CHING...

I’m not convinced there is a Space Grey iMac coming. In fact I’m not convinced there are any Space Grey Macs coming.

Well, thank you!

Of course you can recycle aluminium and it also degrades over time in nature, which is a positive feature. But I had something else in my mind. Doesn't matter.

Good for you, congratulations! I'm glad you've got the right head for business.

I hope apple introduces the iMac keyboards with the Touch ID on them separately if they stop selling the space gray stuff.

Couldn’t wait any longer. Pulled the trigger on a Satechi Slim X1 and official Space Grey trackpad while they can still be bought. I know the colours won’t exactly match but my setup is all a mix of black and various shades of grey anyway, so should look cool. Wasn’t willing to gamble on Apple ever releasing more peripherals that aren’t white or pastel shades, and not willing to pay silly money on eBay a year from now for the used grey gear with potentially suboptimal batteries.

Will post my thoughts on the keyboard in due course 👍

Satechi Slim X1 is beautiful. As expected, the colour is a shade or two lighter than Apple's Magic Trackpad, but my setup is all shades of grey so it blends in perfectly, and actually exactly matches the stand of my Dell U2720Q monitor. Typing feel of the keyboard is great and the unit feels of very high quality overall. Not out of place in an Apple setup. Will report back if I experience and connectivity foibles. Worth noting that macOS doesn't display the charge level in the Bluetooth devices list, but I already knew this. A minor inconvenience.

So far so good. Recommend a look for anyone who wanted the Apple keyboard in grey without the num pad 👍

Incompatible as a keyboard or incompatible for TouchID?

Sorry, I wasn't clear. As far as I know they will work as a keyboard but the Touch ID functionality won't work with Intel Macs. This is only my understanding, and I could be partially or wholly incorrect, so please don't take my word for it.

The keyboard is just a transmitter so those Intel Macs probably don't have the proper internal wireless authentication hardware. I bet they are compatible with all Macs released from now.

I'm sure that T2 equipped Macs would technically work, too. But Apple decided to cut them off here.
It's just Bluetooth in the end. Their protocol that they run over it could also be run on an Intel machine and T2 has a Secure enclave.

This is my feeling also, but we'll probably never know for sure.

I pulled the trigger.

Will post after I receive it....
@Jim Lahey , I am typing on it now. It is a good looking device. It's a tad smaller than the Magic Keyboard. Only slightly. There is more key travel. It's like a combination of the new Magic Keyboard and one from the 2015 MacBook Pro.

Connection is USB C or BT. I've had zero pairing issues.

I will note you have to give the keys a fairly hard strike. If you glide, this is probably not the keyboard for you. If you don't mind mashing, it's very nice. The back lighting is an especially nice touch.

Can you compare the typing feel to Apple's original aluminum desktop keyboards (before the "Magic" models)?

I've tried the MX Keys, and it's fine, but in a perfect world, it wouldn't be as large, and have wired connectivity as backup, for potential BT connection issues, or when the battery eventually loses charge capacity.

Satechi's keyboards satisfy that, but what gives me pause are the unknown feel, and what some consider to be mediocre battery life.

I still desire a number pad, so the new X2 may be a good compromise, but I'm not sure if I can give up the Home/End and Page Up/Down keys, so the X3 just might be it.

It would a lot easier if Apple deigned to illuminate their desktop keyboards.
