you manually choose what ipsw you want. Apple's signing only applies to iTunes and the new finder based iPhone recovery.

scams don't tend to last long in the app store, and if it is one, there's still plenty of others. I pulled the first one. As for the second part, it wasn't a question as to how easy it is, they stated it's impossible.

Pick your poison.
I'm trying to imagine how rather strange it would be that many serious dedicated online forums that deal with jailbreaking and of course discussions related to signing and downgrading have just been completely oblivious to simple methods to do it all for all these years. And that's on top of Apple's whole signing approach being so easily ignored essentially. Seems like that would be fairly big news all over.

I just saw a news article about lizard people, it must be real because it’s on the internet
take a stroll over to the iOS 12 beta threads, multiple people have used 3u to either install beta 1 without Catalina or dev tools, and roll back. Ignorance is bliss.

The betas are fairly different in that it's usually quite possible to go some earlier ones at least for a while.

Alternatively, you can take a look at the Jailbreak section here or many other serious online forums that deal with jailbreaking to see many discussions about limitations related to signing and downgrading.

use 3u and see for yourself, or not. Either way I won't lose sleep over it.

typo, ment 13. u3 bypassed the need for a fresh install via ipsw.

That is my call on how I use my device.
Not ignorance unless you have the ability to see the future. It is more like any first time iPhone buyer heading into the store to buy the phone were not informed about the agreements BEFORE the purchase which you have cleverly avoided to mention.

You own the hardware, not the software. It's an important distinction.

Again, it seems like we are talking about betas of a current/upcoming release, or going back to a public release that is signed. Is there an example of installing something that isn't signed? Let's say someone going back to some early iOS 12 release, or iOS 11, or 10, etc.?

There are multiple third party programs that let you flash an iPhone with unsigned ipsw’s. Many people used it to work around the initial iOS 13 release bugs. Just because you don’t know of a way doesn’t mean it’s non existent.

iOS 13 is signed. just because it was dev only at release did not change the fact that it was signed.

iOS 13's launch "bug" was that it was strictly an IPSW launch, and not with a profile. and without access to the xcode beta, it was hard to install it. a mobiledevice.pkg was released nearly immediately that covered for this gap without having to install the catalina and/or xcode betas.

so thanks, but i did know of a way, i used that way. but under no circumstances has iOS 13 not been signed.

edit: furthermore, if such a tool existed for any normal person's use, the jailbreak community would be constantly fine as everyone would be able to run whatever version they wanted that supports a jb, including updating to newly jailbroken firmwares that are unsigned.

I’ll let you figure it out. It’s not wise to hand sharp objects to children.

Again, it’s available online as well. The responsibility is on you to know what you’re buying, stop deflecting blame.
Willful ignorance is not an excuse https://www.apple.com/ca/legal/sla/

first page of the iOS 12 agreement:
“By using the Apple Software, you agree that Apple may download and install automatic iOS Software Updates onto your iOS Device and your peripheral devices.”

you agreed to it. Don’t like it? Buy an Android.
I see even dictators have their supporters.
You own the hardware, not the software. It's an important distinction.
And that is the messed up part.
If you don't agree to THEIR terms, then you just bought yourself a brick.
You are shown the agreement when you first use the iPhone you purchase. If you don't agree you can hit the Cancel button and return it.
Again, one of my very first reply already stated the hassles associated with that.

You can downgrade by restoring your phone with an iOS 12 ipsw. What computer allows you to roll back to a previous version with a delta upgrade mechanic? Everything requires a fresh install and file recovery.
I mean on Mac I can re install Sierra if I want and on my PC I can reinstall Windows 8 or 7 if I want. Sure I need a back up to restore all my stuff but at least I can do this if I want or need to.
