cancelled most likely for privacy reasons. many workplaces dont allow cameras on phones/devices brought in, so this would prevent millions of sales.

it sucks though, facetime on a watch would be really fun
Hold your arm up in front of your face for 10 minutes and tell me how much fun you're having. Or lower it for a stunning video of your neck and chin. Not to mention, imagine the battery life on a watch you FaceTime with; I suppose you could attach it to a MagSafe power bank and hold that in front of you like it's a phone.

I wonder if they still try to take down blogs that write about leaks.
Here is a hint: they were never working on a watch with a camera in it.

Step 1: Make up a rumour.
Step 2: Say the made-up rumor has been delayed or cancelled.
Step 3: Profit off clicks.
Step 4: This was a false rumor to catch the employee who leaks information about Apple to the media.
Step 5: Sue the Apple employee and make internal controls more rigorous to stop leaking information about Apple projects.

Sounds like you're construction or warehousing? I work in a professional office with HVAC. Everyone wears dress shirts, jackets, blazers, etc. The people who wear short sleeves are mostly women.

A watch with a camera wouldn't work for the vast majority of office professionals.
Nice tunnel vision you got there. Ooh, and stereotypes too! Neat. I spent decades working in an office, wearing jeans and t-shirts most of the time. Because software developers care more about results, than looking fancy for each other (and, yeah, we had HVAC too).

I said you cant use, not you cant take :)

Have you ever been through an airport? I've never had an issue with border control making sure that my camera was off. That has never happened to me. What's the specific issue you're trying to illustrate? Maybe I'm misunderstanding?

You can tell when someone is using a camera, a camera in a watch, not so much.

This is very simple as was my previous answer :) you have introduced these absurd scenarios of cant take or switching camera off, not me

No. There's a very small number of places that don't allow cameras, and Apple iPhone cameras can be disabled in places like this. No reason to think that the camera in the watch cannot be s/w disabled to fit the same niche.

What you think not many people pass through passport control zones at airports and border crossing points where no phones and cameras are allowed to be used.

It would be another inconvenience for travellers and security officers alike checking for watches with cameras.

I have simply noted that you ignored the fact that millions of travellers a day encounter zones where they are not permitted to use their phones and cameras at passport control typically at airports and boarder crossing.

To be compliant in these zones as most travellers know you simply put your device in your pocket or bag to comply

Hope this is clear now and we can move on as this thread is largely dead now :)

I don’t think this would be very intuitive anyway. It’d be awkward trying to point the camera at something with the watch being on your wrist. I’d prefer to use a feature like this on my phone.
You know it would just tell you it sent the info to your phone, so might as well cut out the middle step...smh

Thanks. Yeah seems to be a total non issue. Going through those places would be no different. Just don’t use your camera. 😀

This idea deserves to be cancelled. A camera that can only be used for AI item identification would have been rightly mocked. If you could take a photo, it would be a little useful for the people with LTE models traveling without their phone.

And they should definitely get any AI image identification feature working on the iPhone before making an Apple Watch camera that only does AI image identification.
