Nah. Look, if the next iPhone used the same SIM as the current one, this wouldn't even be a question. It's done. You switch them out. What you're saying right now applies to my line not being eligible for the discount price in the first place. However, it does not apply to me not being able to "activate another iPhone on my line". That's garbage, doesn't make any sense. I know for a fact that if I went to the AT&T store and said "hey I used another line, but I want it switched over to mine and yada yada" chances are that'll be handled easily. That's not the point. My point was, I'm under the impression that I could simply handle all of this in the comfort of my own home through itunes during the activation process. So, my question to you was is the SIM in the sealed iPhone box that will be shipped to my house somehow tied to the line I chose to upgrade with online through the AT&T site, and you fail to really give me a clear answer, so f#ck it. I guess I'll find out in a week or two.

EDIT: WTF man, do you read? Haha, I see you added what's below to your comment. F#cking read man, seriously.
I don't know how much clearer it can be. If your current line is not eligible for upgrade (subsidized) pricing, and you want that price, you can't upgrade the line without going into a AT&T store and getting it swapped to another eligible number in the family account. Is that simple enough?

iJohn you F#CKING moron. I hate to flame, but my god dude. I NEVER said I wanted to use MY LINE to UPGRADE you idiot. What did I say? I said I wanted to use a DIFFERENT LINE to BUY the phone and simply ACTIVATE MY LINE at MY HOME. DO YOU GET IT NOW DUDE? Seriously, piss off. You're giving me a headache.

And I've told you over and over you CAN'T do it without going to the AT&T store. The iPhone has to be first activated on the number it was bought for (or an eligible number), then an AT&T rep can change the phone to your account.

Please go back and READ the specific question I asked you, and then re-evaluate your "answers" and you will come to find it has nothing to do with my specific question to you. You have not only failed to read, but you continually fail to answer my question so no worries man, I'll figure it out on my own. Less of a headache that way.

I've answered it numerous times, it's just not the answer you want. You can't buy the phone online with the eligible number and activate it directly on another that's not eligible. It first has to be activated on an eligible account, then an AT&T rep in one of their stores can change it to your account.

Now I see you added the above to your post. First you went from saying another iPhone can't be activated due to my line not being eligible for an early upgrade, despite me clearly stating I would use an eligible line. Then you go on to tell me why I'm not able to upgrade at a discount price when I never questioned that, haha unbelievable. But alright man, I see your "answer" now and if that's the case then okay.

Again John, I don't have a problem with dealing with AT&T to activate my line. What you answered now, is completely fine with me, so the non-sense about it's "not the answer I want" is garbage, like the majority of the responses you've given me. It's just unfortunate, you could not read my post correctly the first time and give the above response as such.

I don't mean to get in the middle of this conversation but, you do have to activate the new phone (any phone, not just an iPhone) with the number you used to upgrade the line, but once the phone has been activated (again, not just an iPhone), all you have to do is swap sim cards, at no point to do you have to go to an AT&T store to have them do it (unless you want them to port over your phone numbers that are stored on that sim card)
