Apple's online store is down ahead of iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro pre-orders, which are expected to be available at 5:00 a.m. Pacific Time in the United States.

"We love that early energy," reads the Apple Store's message when visiting the U.S. website. "Almost ready for you. Pre-order begins at 5:00 a.m. PDT. See you soon." Apple has been doing 5:00 a.m. pre-orders for the last several years instead of the 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time pre-orders that it used to have.

Customers in more than 40 countries and regions, including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, the UAE, the U.K., and the U.S., will be able to pre-order ‌iPhone 16‌ models when the store comes back online.

The ‌iPhone 16‌ and ‌iPhone 16‌ Plus will be available in black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage capacities, while the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ and ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max will be available in black titanium, natural titanium, white titanium, and desert titanium, in 128GB (smaller Pro only), 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage capacities.
The ‌‌iPhone 16‌‌ is priced starting at $799, while the ‌‌iPhone 16‌‌ Plus is priced starting at $899. The ‌‌iPhone 16 Pro‌‌ is priced starting at $999, and the ‌‌iPhone 16 Pro‌‌ Max is priced starting at $1,199. After pre-orders take place, a launch will follow on Friday, September 20.

can't wait to repeatedly open & force quit the apple store app for 10 minutes and feel roller coaster levels of adrenaline as I rush to place my order before other plebs doing the same
Yeah, that's what I've been ready for every time, but for the last 2 or 3 times I've been prepared for maybe 15-20 minutes of pure stress, but when the time has come, I've gone into the app or web page, placed my order, paid, and got the confirmation screen within less than a minute. So 'normal' that I've even had to carefully double-check I've not ordered the wrong thing, and then I'm left feeling "Oh, that was a bit of an anti-climax" and lacking the life-affirming sense of achievement that used to be part of successfully placing a pre-order.

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Common sense says it's a good thing, but it's a bit like queuing for a white-knuckle roller coaster and then it just being a short, gentle ride along a smooth, level piece of track.

Been excited every year since 2007. One of the few things that bring me joy is the pre-order and delivery/tracking of a new iPhone. Don’t think it’ll ever change for me.
It's almost like a mini pre Christmas! The interlude period between the event and pre-order day, then the stress of geting a pre-order in for launch day, then the one whole painstaking week of waiting and then the Friday hits and the iPhone finally arrives! It's an unusual yet fun season!

Is there anyone who is genuinely excited about this?
I get excited over any piece of new tech to be honest - Cameras, tablets, phones, consoles...theres just something about getting your order in, the anticipation of it arriving, the unboxing experience etc. The job that I despise is just about bearable thanks to it allowing me to enjoy things like this.

I hate all this crap. I never get the phone on release date no matter how quick I get on the app. Always have to wait a month 🙄

My iPhone 13 Pro still does what it needs. The iOS updates that this phone ( 16 ) takes advantage will be staggered.
Don’t buy products based upon future promises. The AI may not be all that great.

I really don’t see the need to buy iPhone 16.

This is not ok. I need to obsessively stare at my Apple Watch Order not moving.

It sounds like you’re more driven by FOMO than actually wanting the new phones 🤷🏻‍♂️
