No joy yet--Vermont, USA. 8:06 AM. As usual, delay in getting into store. ☹️

I guess it could be a blessing, since I'm sorta sitting on the fence. If I don't get mine in the first batch, I'll be able to get real world evaluations and be able to cancel before mine ships.

8:15. App is live but website is down. Unfortunately I can't do military discount on the app, so I'm stuck waiting for Godot. This sucks.

Well, I was FINALLY able to place my order but it won't deliver until Oct 2 -7. So I'll have plenty of time to change my mind. Thanks, Apple. 🤬

Addendum: Who am I kidding? A snowball in Hades has a better chance than I have of canceling this preorder. 🤪

Not worth it.

It’s the same phone.
I see your kind of comment all the time and it’s always interesting lol.

same phone as.. last year? the year before? is literally every new iPhone the same as the last? if someone is coming from the iPhone X, should they wait until the iPhone 20? should someone with the iPhone 13 wait for the iPhone 23?

where is the line drawn? what’s the rule of thumb?

there isn’t much new year to year most years, but someone jumping 2-4+ generations is quite a different phone… at least internally.

for me, going from 15 to 16 isn’t huge at all but I still like getting a new phone annually and have the means to do so without sacrificing my financial standing.

Your last sentence should be the only reason anyone looks for new phones nowadays. If you want it and you can afford it, then have fun. Otherwise, it’s not easy to find a substantive difference between the 13 and the 15 even, apart from maybe USB-C, but most people have a massive backlog of Lightning cables. We’re basically at the same spot as PCs now - my M1 Mac is not different enough for my use cases to upgrade to M3.

I could place my order for iphone 16pro ( Australia) vka apple australia website. Got an email from " your_order_AU@orders.apple.com " regarding my purchase. The email Id sounds a bit phishing however when I checked ln my order status on apple website, it does show that order is in progress. Maybe Im just being paranoid but wanted to check with you geniuses if this is a legit email ID or anyone on the same boat?

That was a pretty smooth ordering process. I had everything ready days ago. The Apple Store app "opened" for me at 5:02AM PDT, and I was checked out by 5:03AM.
