perhaps they made the updates and they are hidden. Then they just flip a switch to activate them on Tuesday.

seriously, this store behaves like it is hard coded PHP or something. What store doesn't have time based, effective dating of prices and products?

They wouldn't need to take the store down to do this though, would they?

 GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR no update to Macs!!!! as Jobs said about google Bull ****!

I am sure someone at some point has asked this, but...

Why is such an innovative company like Apple taking down their store for "maintenance" or any other reason?

I am in this business, and when a client wants to be up 24/7, it happens. This seems like flawed tech to me.

The answer is really very simple. Don't start with the assumption that occasionally having the store down costs Apple sales. People who have decided to buy a Mac are not very likely to change their mind if the store is down. They've saved up, and they've already made the commitment to purchase a Mac. Plus, add the fact that the store probably has a spike of traffic when it comes back online - thanks to readers like us. And then add the fact that having 27/7 ability costs money.

Just my 2 cents worth of thinking...
