I don't think I can possibly stress enough just how little people refreshing a page every minute or so affects such a high-throughput site.

Hitting refresh just requests a newer version of the page from the server. It does not necessarily reload all data from the site again.

puppyflightclub, I'd like more info on your MBP. Can't find a way to PM on this site.

Maybe it will be new MBP and new Mac Pro Deskstops with 64-bit versions of all the pro-apps with iPad Preordering!

I'm dreaming.

I think everbody here knows that and it was just a joke.
However there are websites that could suffer from something like that. See here

It's also called "heise-DoS" in Germany because of the popular German IT-Newsticker heise.de.

But that certainly doesn't apply to a website like store.apple.com.

I'm aware of the concept - wasn't sure whether the post was a joke, though, considering...others.

As you say, on a small site, sure. On the Apple Store? Not a chance ;)

That's...er...nice?

The site is legit so I assume that is an actual Apple press release.

I hope you're right. I'd love to pick up the new version. I've been holding out the past few months because of all the speculation, and it will be nice to finally have Aperture.

Have you ever heard about product hype ?

I can just imagine the apple lab geeks in their white coats awaiting the all important call from Steve and boardmembers, whom will be partying up with champagne and drunk girls...ready to go live and see the flow of money poor in with orders of new MBP's:D.

Maybe all the step children are getting an update ie displays, air, macpro and mbp
