If I only had a penny (nope, not even a nickel) for every time I've heard that.
I went to get my iPod Shuffle repaired some time ago and it was a very good expreience. I got a appointment which was about 30 minutes away but beacuse someone didt show up they let me come earlier insead, then they checked my iPod, tryed to restore it with iPod Software Update (which I already tryed, duh!) and it wouldnt work, they checked some other stuff and nothing worked so they checked the serial number on it, and even though the warrenty had expired, I told them I got it for my birthday which was a few months after the purchase date (which is true BTW) they replaced it there and then anyway!
