This just in.....

One of the guys setting up the displays, just took his lunch break!!!

Hope you are sitting down!

LOL @ waiting in line.

They must not be that smart to know of the pre-orders. Oh wait, their agenda is probably to resell those goddamned phones. Pathetic.

The only reason I reserved for pick up (thus having to line up) is so I can use Apple Pay with my Discover card and get 22% off the phone (in addition to 22% off the remaining balance of my current phone at TMobile).

But for most people there's no real difference between regular and "s" models this year.

I'm getting one for 2 gigs of ram and 7000 Aluminum. Who else cares about that stuff? Just a bunch of geeks like me, who preorder.

4 and 4s had Steve Jobs and Siri. 5 had bigger screen. 5s had touch ID and gold, a very nice shade that many people liked very much. 6 had big screens. What's the compelling feature this year? 3D touch? Most people hardly even know what that's going to be good for. Even geeks like me might turn it off. Maybe better camera will be a compelling feature but I doubt it. Pink is not compelling, period.

2GB
Better Tmobile service (hopefully)
4k video (looks great on youtube so far)

Those 3 are my main factors. If I didn't have tmobile, I could probably wait another year.

I am more excited to see the iFixit tear down and the chipworks analysis :)

Always interesting reads.

People are reacting to 3D touch the same way they reacted to Siri and Touch ID.

3D Touch will be more useful than most think, especially when developers start adding their twist to it.

I feel like there are not going to be huge lines in any western countries this year. I just don't see it. Not for a pink iPhone.

I think pink means something else in China, so maybe it'll be a hit there.

You should have a look into "smartphone contracts". Those make people often skip one or two iterations.

It's nice to see excitement for an American product in Japan - it doesn't happen very often.

Really...they will sale a boatload of them - there is a huge crowd still on 4s,5,5c,5s (over 180M)

That must have been sarcasm, right? :D , because all the reviews about 3D Touch have been overwhelmingly positive ranging from 'a very welcome addition' to 'a killer feature that will probably show up in other phones sometime in the future'.

As you said, add to that 7000 Alu, the A9/M9 processors, LivePhotos, 2GB Ram, 12 Megapixel camera, 4k video, improved (twice as fast) TouchId, and an additional color choice, there's arguably plenty of reason for people to consider this upgrade.

I am upgrading because I go back and forth to China and the 6s USA edition finally includes the bands used in China.

Pre-order is no guarantee that you will have the new phone at launch. Hell, I ordered 1 minute after pre-orders began and my delivery date is mid-October.

Same here, I just had a chat with AT&T - order 3 minutes after opening the online ordering and they are quoting Oct 16-Oct 21

I have a reservation for an 128gb iPhone 6s Plus Space Gray at the Omotesando store at 9:30am, half an hour before the store opens.

You were saying? Front page news disagrees with you. LOL. https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-at-apple-stores-ahead-of-launch-day.1920510/

While there's no mention of specific color preferences here there are certainly HUGE lines that Samsung could only dream of having. :)
