God those European city streets are so great...We really chose the wrong design path in the US

This is Switzerland. Unlike the rest of Europe, it wasn't bombed in WW2 (save a few "mistakes" on the border to Germany that the US had to compensate the Swiss for).
Most German cities looked like this in the late 30s of the last century.
 
It's not just the architecture. The streets are super clean and everything runs like a Swiss watch :)

What a loss, most of german cities are rather ugly and build up in the rush of habitations needed.
