I have been looking all week and had no luck with no availability near me. This evening around 5:20pm I finally got lucky and got an order in for in store pick up tomorrow morning. 13 Pro Max 128gb Sierra Blue. I had ordered with AT&T and they messed up my order and had to cancel. I then did a IUP order but had a ship date of 10/28-11/04. Once I was able to get the in store pickup confirmed by email I cancelled the IUP order. East Coast in Virginia here.

Availability in San Francisco just opened up. Picking up 256 tomorrow morning at Union Sq

Is there any specific time of the day when these phones are more likely to show up in the inventory in the Apple app?

In previous years they would always show up first thing in the morning, but this year it seems like they can pop up at any time. You just have to keep checking the app.

Also is it possible that an app shows no stock but the store will have walk in units available?

It’s possible. Traditionally stores will show fewer items available online than they actually have on hand to avoid selling the last one of something while someone is on the way to the store to get it, or in case their inventory numbers are off slightly. However, I believe that due to covid, in some areas apple isn’t taking walk in’s at all and just turning people away and telling them to check the app.

Of course Apple doesn’t officially publish any of this information, so none of it is official. It’s just what those of us who have been watching it have observed.

oh that's actually really good to know since a lot of the stores around me are pretty far
Long story short: I had a phone ordered for pick-up and dropped by the store to cancel (remember, long story), and the Apple employee told me not to worry about being charged “because that the phone will go into tomorrow’s supply.”

Yeah, I’m sure that happens when you cancel… no need to hold the stock back. However, in my email confirmation that I got when my order was ready for pickup apple stated that they would hold it for 14 days:

When I pre ordered my iPhone at 5 am, I knew I should have just ordered the gold one for my wife. She was being stubborn and didn’t want to order a phone till she Saw it in person. Jokes on her now , she won’t be getting one till possibly middle of Nov.

Anyone have experience doing an IUP in the Apple store? Do I trade in my 12 pro at the Apple store or do they still send a box and I just mail it in?

It seems like they’re more likely to spontaneously pop up in the evenings, but that’s when I check most often so who knows.

First time since launch I saw availability in ATL. Looks like they got a bunch of PMs last night, every color but Gold and 128GB. Suprised to see so many 1TBs available.

I've ordered a 13 Pro (128gb) from the official store. Estimated delivery is 1 Nov - 8 Nov, but Apple usually overdelivers so I'm hoping that gets cut short. I need it in about 4 weeks before I go on an extended vacation. What are the odds I will get it in time? 😬

This morning Miami, Florida had stock for Pro Max models, I was able to secure mine for pick-up tomorrow, 10 minutes after I placed my order no more stock, these phones are selling faster than I thought.

hopefully they drop a shipment in so cal soon. I saw a few stores last night, but not much since then.
