I placed two orders at around 4:30 central time (am). I placed the order for a 32g White, which is showing processing. A few minutes later I ordered my husbands 32G Black, that one is showing preparing for shipping.

I got my confirmation e-mail 12:59 AM PST night of release, 16 white, US delivery - still processing
I placed the reservation at around 3:45am Central time Friday morning when Apple started doing that instead of sending people through to the AT&T site, and then completed the order around 11am Friday. As of right now, mine is still in "Processing Items" mode
I placed my order at 730 am and I now have the "Pending Shipment" label on a 32gb, white.
I want to say it was something different, but I didn't screenshot it or anything when I first made the transaction.

Wanted to say what was something different, sorry if its obvious...low on sleep.
Ordered about 6:30am EST on Friday the 7th. 32GB Black. "Preparing for shipment, delivers Oct 14."

Very odd how the American preorders say delivered by October 14h. But all the Canadian orders I've seen say ships by October 14th. I wonder if that means Canadians who preordered won't get them on the 14th.

i'm in the US, and I ordered two 16gb white phones, one for me and one for my girlfriend, and both of mine say preparing for shipment! i ordered them around 5:30 central
The status. Right now it says "pending shipment" but before I was certain it said processing.
I actually had to call them this morning (Att and be transfered) because I COULD NOT enter my email address in the box when I went to order online.
I never got a confirmation email or anything. But, the rep told me, that the confirmation emails ATT sends are automatically accepted when you activate the phone, so that's handled there.
The email would also help with tracking and updates, but I don't really need that as the phone is going to my house to be overnighted to me the next day.
Ordered around 11AM Central on the 7th. Changed to this at about 10PM on the 8th. ATT White 16gb.
This is going to be the longest week of my life. Here's to hoping it gets to my house on Friday and overnighted the same day. Here's. Hoping.

Not quite following you...are you having it shipped to your house, then someone else is overnighting to your actual location? If so you can go onto your order at Apple.com and update your shipping address to whatever you like when it's in the Processing" stage.

Odd indeed, apologies for the slow posting of screen shot. Being on the iPhone can be a pita to post screen shots!

The fact that iOS 5 is releasing on the 12th is clear evidence why it won't arrive that early. New iOS release and launch days were a nightmare on the servers, that's why with iOS 4 they released it early prior to product launch. There may be a small percentage (say 2%) that slip through and get delivered on the 13th, but the rest on the scheduled launch day.
The fact that iOS 5 is releasing on the 12th is clear evidence why it won't arrive that early. New iOS release and launch days were a nightmare on the servers, that's why with iOS 4 they released it early prior to product launch. Preparing for shipment
I ordered my 64GB 4S in the black from Apple via telephone at 5:30 PM ET, status has now changed to "Preparing..." Yay!! AppleCare+ still shows as "Processing" but I'm pleased to see that the order has progressed to the next stage!
It's curious that my S.O. who ordered from Apple by phone at the same time was told she'd be getting 2 emails; the acknowledgment of the order, and an email requiring action to accept Terms of Service. (My representative made no mention of the latter email to me.) She received both, but I only received the acknowledgment email. I did note however, the small-print stating implicit consent to TOS by using the phone... a minor point, but it's just curious how identical orders can get handled differently.. 🙂
